Where did you buy your dress?

Hi girls! Where did you buy your dress? I just started my wedding dress shopping Saturday at David's Bridal, but I want some other options as well.

Two popular places around here are Gamberdella in Towson and Betsy Robinson in Pikesville.  Those are the only two I went to and loved both.  Good luck.

I found my Watters gown at Gamberdella's, but I purchased it through netbride.  I loved Sharon at Gamberdella's and felt kinda bad not buying from them, but it saved me about 1/3 of the cost.

I went to David's Bridal in Glen Burnie. Took my mom and she ended up paying for it! Their prices are cheap enough anyway (I'm sorry but I cannot justify spending thousands on a dress you wear once) but because it was in mom's budget, she bought it, saving us $600. We can put that toward cocktail hour now. Not to mention my dress is awesome and I feel like walking sex in it. I tried dresses at Juliet's at Parkville - they don't listen to what you want and their prices are high because they are all designer, not to mention the air conditioning was off. I told them I wanted the mermaid/trumpet style and I guess they only carry size 10 and I need a 12 (apparently brides aren't supposed to have t&a!) and because their 10s wouldn't fit they tried steering me into A-line. I hate A-line. I felt fat and disgusting after they started bringing me A-line dresses. I wanted to cry. My body looks AMAZING in mermaid/trumpet and they wanted me to look like I was pregnant. I do not recommend contacting Lily's Bridal in Perry Hall. They were extremely rude when I walked in to make an appointment, then I made one over the phone and was so excited. I was told I would receive an email of what to expect for my first appointment and never received it, then the day of the appointment the probably 16-year old bridal consultant called because she hurt her hand and was working at the salon by herself and had to cancel my appointment. It's funny because she worked all day with no problem and then right before my appointment she could no longer do it. I feel like if her hand was that bad she shouldn't have gone into work that day. I didn't believe she was really injured - and was very turned off from that place. They had the designers I was interested in and I would probably have spent a lot more than I was comfortable with on a dress if I had gone in there. They lost out. But I won in the end with a sexy and reasonably priced dress and a clean conscience.

I found my dress at Gamberdellas... I had an amazing experience shopping there! But I ended up ordering it from Scher's in Pocomoke City (Eastern Shore) for 2 reasons... I live down here anyway and they were about 200 cheaper than Gamberdellas.

I recommend Gamberdella as well as M'Jourdelle both in Towson. I tried on dresses at both places and liked many but ended up with a dress from Running of the Brides.GL with your search!

I had a great experience at Juliet's. If you fit in sample sizes, they had a great selection of discontinued dresses that they pulled out for me. I got my Pronovias for half price! I also was pretty sure I wanted a Pronovias and they have the best selection around. Also liked Gamberdella's (but found their dresses very traditional/conservative) and Betsy Robinson's (loved their dresses but not the prices!).

Another happy Bridals by Elena bride here :)

Another happy Gamberdella's bride here.  They had so many lovely dresses and the alterations costs there are extremely reasonable.  I also LOVED Bridals by Elena I just didn't find THE dress there - but all of the ladies who work there are super friendly.

Ditto pp's about Gamberdella's.  It was the only place I went.  I knew I wanted to start my looking process there because it was sentimental, as my mom and both her sisters got their wedding dresses there and they raved about it.  I actually bought my gown off-the-rack, and it's gorgeous.  I never could have afforded it had they not done that for me.  You won't be disappointed with your experience there!  I also had made an appt at Francesca's Bridal, which I ended up canceling because very surprisingly I got my dress on my first appt to Gamberdella's 2 days prior.  I have heard mixed reviews about Francesca's... when I got my prom dress there they ordered it about 6 sizes too big... and they then proceeded to tell me (2 days before prom) that I had "lost" 20 lbs and then charged me hand-over-foot for alterations.  I've heard they do that to brides, as well, but I'd wanted to go there because they carried a line of dresses I loved and were the only ones in the area to carry it (Blue by Enzoani).I've heard good things about Isabella Bridal and also Bridals by Niko.  Good luck! Be sure to ask about "trunk sale" dresses, dresses off the rack.  You can save a TON of money that way.

Another piece of advice - AVOID Mary's Bridal in Annapolis (next to the mall) at ALL costs.  She's a pain in the a$$ to deal with and will tell you that all of the dresses there are her designs and she can charge a gagillion dollars more when none of the designs are actually hers. She does do amazing work (my sister got her dress there), but dealing with her and the snottiness (sp?) of the store is definitely not worth it.

Being the odd ball I am- I got my dress in Savannah Georgia at Bridal Mart of Savannah! The people there were so sweet!! And I get a heck of a deal on the dress- atleast 500$ less than I found the dress at other places.

I went to Bridals by Elena and I was disappointed I was passed around by Elena and two other people the whole time I was there, one was on the phone the whole time who seemed to be the one who was supposed to be waiting on me.  Elena was very nice and seemed like she really wanted to find the best gown for me but I just didn't feel like I was getting specialized service.  Most of the time I was standing there waiting for someone to finish getting me in the dress or out of one.  And I did make an appointment in the middle of the week and they weren't busy.  It was also funny because I had called to make an appointment and was put on hold and they never got back to me. I know everyone has different experiences but that is what happened to me.  I ended up getting my dress at Davids, because of the budget.  I also went to Gamberdellas, Nicos, and Stellas, all had very good service.  Stellas I didn't even have an appointment.

Oh I went to Niko's too and they have a huge selection, and the woman was really helpful.  I would avoid Francesca's, for the same reason that PP mentioned- 1 of my best friends got her dress there, they ordered it way too big and by the time the alterations were done it looked like a different dress.  I tried on dresses there with no intention of buying, and wasn't impressed with their customer service, or lack thereof.

I ended up at Priscilla of Boston in Tysons Corner, VA.  I tried stuff on at Betsy Robinson's in MD but wasn't crazy about the salesperson I had (I don't think she listened when I was describing what kind of dress I wanted and kept bringing me things I had no interest in trying on!), and just for fun we took a trip to NYC to go to Kleinfeld and Saks.  Kleinfeld was a blast - if you can get up there it's a lot of fun and the salespeople are very knowledgeable and nice.  Anyway though, I'm receiving great service from PoB in Tysons and pretty happy with them so far...I hope things continue to go smoothly!

I got my dress at Columbia Bridal.  It was $400 less there than Francesca's.  I did like the salesgirl at Francesca's - she was so nice!!! I went to Nikos on Eastern Avenue - I would not rec that place to anyone.  I thought it was dirty and the sales lady we had was soooo rude!!!!!

I got mine at Betsey Robinson's and I love it there.  My consultant was Leanne Bloom and she was really knowledgeable and awesome about staying within my budget.  They do a lot of trunk shows and they had a TON of really nice sample gowns there at great prices - I just wasn't looking for something that fancy.  It may just depend on the person you get, Leanne was very helpful and not pushy in any way - she knew when to back off and when to help out, and she didn't make me feel like my budget was too small (like they always do on Say Yes to the Dress!).  I also like that I can keep my dress there for fittings up until the wedding, so I don't have to worry about having it at home or keeping it with a friend.

I bought my dress from Columbia Bridal.  They have a good selection of dresses there and an fair number of size 12-16 dresses also. I am not wowed by them but they have been pretty good so far. I am very pleased with their ideas for alterations and looking forward to my 1st fitting.  I have to say the David's Bridal in Glen Burnie is great!!! I wish I had gone there first. They have a huge selection of dresses in all sizes. Ultimately my mother, sister and niece all bought their dresses for my wedding there and the prices are very reasonable. Our salesman was Jeff and he was wonderful.

I bought my dress from Annapolis Formal. It's a small shop in Edgewater (just outside of Annapolis) and I have had a wonderful experience so far! It's run by a mother/daughter team. I was pretty anxious about the dress-shopping process (after visiting some snobby/rude shops in the area) but both ladies are helpful, friendly, and patient. Once I found "the dress" I called around to a zillion other stores in MD to see if the price was reasonable and it was much cheaper than the two other stores that carried it!

Although I didn't end up buying a dress at Annapolis Formal, I definitely would have done so if I hadn't found mine in Cincinnati! The ladies there are too nice and so so helpful--they have a great eye and really listen to you. I'm a little sad I couldn't bring them my business!(Plus, if it helps, there's a Cold Stone in the same shopping center. mmmm. Good for bribing family members to come dress shopping...)

I got my dress at Francesca's...and while I have not had any major issues with their service, I can see the potential for it with a couple of their girls. I recently had to make several calls in reference to my BM's dresses, and a time or two got a gal on the phone who really gave off the attitude that I was taking up her time with my questions - I truly did not appreciate that.My dealings with Francesca have been great thus far - for example: right when I was getting ready to put my 55% deposit on my dress, I was laid off. She allowed me to put just $200 down on it ( the total price of the dress is $2,100), and pay in small installments over the next few months. That may have been a small thing, but I really felt like she went over and above to help me get my dress, even though my financial situation had unexpectedly changed. I have heard negative reviews for them, and I have read some others online, and so I realize that each experience is different. But I also went in for the first time without an appointment, and they saw my Mom and I and treated us really well (Jeri was my consultant). That having been said, I have since learned that their alterations department has had many negative reviews, and so I will not be having my alterations done there, but so far (knock on wood) the experience has been good.
