Rehearsal Dinner Help -- Little Rock

Little Rock ladies, can I ask for some help?
I'm getting married in a surprise wedding in Janaury. The wedding iself will be during a birthday party for my grandfather, but I have a few out of town guests (including the bride & groom) coming in and staying in West Little Rock, around Shackleford & Financial Center Parkway.

So what I am looking for somewhere to host a casual dinner for 9-15 people. I know there are some nice chain restaurants out on Chenal, and I can do that, but I was wondering what esle was around. My groom is a vegetarian, so I need to take that into consideration. I'm really looking for somewhere to have a big casual dinner on the Friday night before the party, not a rehearsal dinner as such, more a dinner of friends and family.

Thanks for your help!

I wish I could help!  We've only been here a year and are boring with food and mainly stick to the chains.  I'll ask around, though, and see if I can get any recommendations.  Best of luck and congrats!

Ah well I was going to suggest Gaucho's on Shackelford, until I read the vegetarian part.  I'm pretty sure that they have vegetarian dishes, but they are most famous for the Churrasco (like 15+ meats served buffet style).  They are catering my rehearsal and reception, so I'm biased.  If most of your guests like meat (top of the line, btw) then I would suggest that one, and they have other menu items that will most likely do well for any vegetarians.

Thanks! I may check that out. I can call them to see about vegetarian entrees.

We had our rehearsal dinner at Whole Hog Cafe in Hot Springs. There is one in West Little Rock too. That's not the best choice for a vegetarian, but everybody at our dinner LOVED it. There is a pretty good Mexican restaurant in the same shopping center as Whole Hog. It's El Porton. Faded Rose has a location over there, but I've never been. I've always heard it's really good.

Thank you! El Porton looks good. I had been considering Mexican -- something there is almost none of in Australia, where my fiancé is from -- and as a last resort I was thinking of the On the Border on Chenal. But I was hoping to find something different. I would really like the bar-be-que (I can't always find good bar-be-que here in NO) but I really want my fiancé to have some options for his meal, not just a salad. Thank you all for your suggestions.

if you want mexican, there is a newer place called cantina laredo (its a chain) out near park plaza mall off of university - its not too far from the area you are talking about, and its got more of an upscale feel than some of the other mexican restaurants, but is still somewhat casual - i'm not 100% sure, but im fairly certain there are vegetarian options on their menu. ya ya's euro cafe is a little further down chenal, and its really great! also, around the corner from where you're going to be is copeland's, which is more of a cajun feel - it's a chain, but the food is awesome! i second what someone said about whole hog cafe! but with your fiance being a vegetarian, it really wouldn't work out for him! but the bbq there is incredible!!! there is a turkish restaurant on cantrell that i'm obsessed with called istanbul - its DELICIOUS and the restaurant is very small and intimate, so if you call them early, they will probably be able to push some tables together for you - its SO GOOD. and in the shopping center where istanbul is there are quite a few restaurants - also, two great places that are local are Loca Luna and Bene Vita - both have vegetarian items on their menus! they are a little bit away from where you are going to be staying, but not TOO far, and the trip is totally worth it!

Thank you. I'm from New Orleans, so I know all about Copeland's, and while the food is good, I can it that at home, sometimes better. :) But I will look into the other options. I may have to indulge myself in some barbeque -- even if i get a plate to go. I miss really good barbeque. Thanks for your help! I will have to come back and let you all know what we decided and how the wedding went.

  • We are having a rehearsal dinner at While Hog in Fayetteville, AR. Any suggestions how to decorate the room there for 45 people?
