cake prices

Hello! We're getting married November 14th and the only thing we don't have yet is a cake. We're way behind schedule in this area! FI and I don't even really like cake, so it was low on our priority list of things to get done. Since we're not big sweet eaters, but still want to cut the cake and have dessert for our guests, we're trying to keep it as cheap as possible. I'm in the Akron/Canton area. The cheapest I've found so far is Icing Princess and they are $1.50 a slice. Anyone know anything cheaper?? Or is that as cheap as I'm gonna be able to go? Thanks!

Maybe try Acme?  I hear their cake isn't bad and I would have to believe a grocery store like that can't be too expensive.

Thats pretty much as low as you can go. Fishers is even higher than that.

Have you tried looking into cupcakes?

I haven't priced out MY cake yet, but have you looked into getting a small wedding cake to cut and then sheet cakes to serve?  My friend did that---said it saved her A LOT of money.  She had a small two tiered cake that held a cake topper and then propped it up on boxes to make it high enough to cut easily.

We did cupcakes from Main Street Cupcakes in Hudson for pretty cheap and guests are still raving about them.

Main St. Cupcakes are sooo good! I don't see how they'd be cheaper than the $1.50/pp rate JoeyOz found for cake though, especially if they'll be providing dessert for everyone at the reception. Regular pricing for MSC cupcakes starts at $1.95 per cupcake (regular flavors). Unless you did just a small cupcake 'tower' for yourselves and possibly the bridal party and then sheet cakes for the masses, I just don't see it as being cost effective. Or, does MSC offer a major discount for special event cupcakes? That would be awesome.

Thanks everybody! Just wanted to get a consensus before booking with Icing Princess. Looks like that's what I'll be doing. Appreciate the help! :-)

I don't think you're going to find anything cheaper than that, unless you're looking for a large plain sheetcake or something without multiple layers. If you can get a cake for $1.50 a serving feel good about it-- I think even the cheaper places like Reeve's start around $3.   My cake is about $7.
