how many mustaches is too many mustaches???

OKAY, so FI & I LOVE MUSTACHES!!  For some reason we think that for our generation there is just something inherently funny about them.  (As I am typing this I am giggling to myself just thinking of the word "mustache" and picturing me & FI with big goofy ones on)SO, we wanted to incorporate them into our wedding somehow...FIRST, we saw this and LOVED the idea!http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=8852001Okay, so NOT going to pay $35 a piece for a mustache on a stick though.  So I found this site about making your own:http://lisawelge.com/blog/2009/08/our-wedding-how-to-make-a-mustache-on-a-stick/So we thought we'd make a whole bunch, and then take some fun group shots like this:http://www.urlesque.com/2008/11/13/fake-mustache-wedding-parties/BUT THEN yesterday I saw this FI & I BOTH LOVED IT & decided to definitely do something similar!http://offbeatbride.com/2009/10/unique-wedding-programsBut now, is it TOO much to do BOTH???  How many mustaches is too many mustaches?!?!(both of our dad's have mustaches and we thought it'd be cute to add a little note in our program about how we love our dad's mustaches and that it's a little mustachio homage to them)

Ok, I *really* like the back of the program idea. It's quirky and funny and could provide some giggles and cute photo ops with freaking people out. I think it would be very easy to go overboard on this, however, so I would advise to maybe pick your favorite one idea and do it. It'll add a little something unexpected to the day without being "OMG WTF is with all the moustaches???" Also, both my dad and FI's dad have them. I think it's a 70's thing. Or like, a blue collar thing? I don't know. My dad's a firefighter and it seems like all firefighters oft hat gen have them.

Shazzie, this is an interesting commentary on this very subject...how random...   The Sad and Curious Exile of the American Mustache: http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/ideas/articles/2009/10/11/the_sad_and_curious_exile_of_the_american_mustache/

"...the mustache remains trapped in the land of porn and irony." LOVE IT. I am sensing a Boston siggy challenge: Most Epic Moustache in History.

I feel like in the US it's a generational thing definitely...I know my dad started wearing a mustache as soon as he was old enough to grow one, and the only time he shaved it EVER was when my grandma made him for his HS graduation photo!  I went to India and it's funny bc there all the young guys (like in their 20s) have mustaches...it's like a "becoming a man" type thing there or something like that...I understand we may be going mustache overboard; they are just so fricken fun!  :)  DEFINITELY doing the programs....I already made a mock up last night & tested it out--brilliant!  Maybe we can make a few on a stick for the kid's goodie bags or to use in our photobooth or something....

Oh my god I love this!  We are having a photobooth, which in itself should be fun, but now I want to add a container of the felt ones next to it - i can only imagine how they'll work their way into the rest of the night!

You could probably do a "fun bucket" for the photobooth with googly eye glasses, goofy hats and moustaches and stuff. People get crazy over it!

jkepros- what a cute idea!  I LOVE the program idea especially since it has meaning for you.  Can't wait til you post your mock-ups of the programs.I also think you can get away with the "mustache on a stick" with a photobooth as a prop (even if you include a few other things for props as well).  So funny!

My dad has one of those mustache-bear combos. After he turned 50 he contemplated shaving it all off. My mom, my sister, and me were shocked. We all told him he wouldn't look like himself without it. lol

So a friend out here from DH's program has a girlfriend who makes beards and mustaches for fun for people to dress up with and it is actually really popular.  She went to a craft fair in LA that we met up with her at (lots and lots of etsy sellers) and they were selling like hot cakes.  Here is the link!  Her mustache is $10 apparently. http://www.imadeyouabeard.com/

We did them for the "photobooth" at our wedding, and loved them!  Ours were made with stick-on mustaches, cardboard, and clear straws.  Here is a picture:And while I don't like to post recognizable photos of our human guests, I don't think this guest will mind my posting a picture of him with a mustache:

I love the program idea! It's so cute and simple. My Dad has had a mustache since I was born, a few years ago he SHAVED it off. It was like he was a different person. Now he goes through stages where he has it and then doesn't. It makes me giggle

My dad had a mustache for over 30 years and shaved it while I was in college - he suprised me and came up to school. I got in the car and screamed because I thought I got into the wrong car. I didn't recognize him!

mckridings that is so hilarious because the same exact thing happened to me!!! i had never ever seen my dad without facial hair and he picked me up at a friend's house when i was 17- cleanshaven. i screamed, got out of the car and ran back inside! he had to convince me it was him. too funny. and as for the OP, i say do it all. we brought tons of props to our photobooth and the pics are hilarious.
