Venues

I want to hear about everyone's venues!! Sorry if this has been done already, I'm fairly new to the page. What do you love about your venue and why did you pick it?? We picked a hotel at a private golf course for ceremony and reception. Both are going to be outdoors, along their "swan lake" each summer they bring in 20 ish swans to swim the lake and there's a beautiful fountain with up lighting in the lake. Our favorite perk is the golf course is normally for members only, but we get to golf it as a part of them hosting the wedding at a hugely discounted rate!!

Re: Venues

  • Our ceremony is in the church where my parents were married and I was baptized and grew up in. My family is super close to the pastor, and he confirmed both my sister and I. That decision was a no brainer. :)

Our reception is at a local golf club with a great reputation for wonderful weddings. We choose them largely because they were running a great Friday weddings special that just could not be beat by any of the other comparable venues in the area. They have a large deck that overlooks the golf course our guests can have their drinks on, and our reception will be in the lower level that is full of windows and has several sets of french doors that lead out to a brick patio right on one of the greens.
  • Our ceremony is also in a church. The priest is Polish which is great bc all my family is Polish so I want to incorporate at least 1 reading or prayer from the priest. Our venue is a restored mansion. It was used for private parties way back when and eventually not taken care of. The owners are designers from New York that restored it to its original character and charm. We incorporated the chandeliers into our invites and paper items also. I love how different my venue is from your typical wedding hall.

  • Were getting married in my hometown of San Diego (and my family is large so its easier for travel). We also like it because the venue isnt huge so it wont feel empty, and its not small so it wont be packed! The ceremony and reception is are both on a golf course and that has a wedding company onsite..
Im gonna screen shot pics from their website. im not very good at this decribing thing hahah!

ceremony space... Gonna have more flowers on the arch, coral and ivory aisle petals (thinking of adding pom poms on the chairs, havent decided)

    Reception area..

coctail hour will be around this area.. and the trees around the circle have twinkle lights!!

So we chose this venus because its all inclusive, and suprisingly affordable for a san diego area wedding! they have packages and we can take out and add in different things. Linens, table servivngs, dual plated entrees, centerpieces, hour derves, DOC, the give us personalized flutes, napkins and cake cutters!, No corkage fees, wine with dinner, and they dont charge to cut the cake! etc etc.. are included.. And we get to pick out everything we want in the colors we want! Some things we did have to upgrade..

The only things we are gonna have to pay for extra are my DIY things! SOO excited to see pictures and the space, with my touches!
  • We're getting married at a Bed & Breakfast in my hometown (also where we live)
http://www.purpleorchid.com/ It's surrounded by an Olive Orchard and has a very vineyard-like feel to it. There are lots of nearby wineries and beautiful rolling hills which we love :-)

  • We are getting married and having our reception at our friend's farm where we grew up! There is a huge lake and a lot of land! We are getting a big white tent to have the reception under!

  • We are getting married back near our hometown which thrills me! The chapel is sweet and quaint, the hall is just a regular hall. Nothing too over the top, however I did find out a few of my cousins had their there as well.

  • We just booked our venue today! (We just got engaged last month and have a shorter timeframe for planning the wedding.) It is a nicer restaurant with an in-town vibe. They have a garden patio where we will have the ceremony and an adjacent tent for the reception. http://www.wahoogrilldecatur.com/

We are a little older - in our mid 30's - and wanted to keep it simple. This will be my second wedding and his first. The restaurant venue was well within budget, pretty but not too over the top, and fits with our in-town lifestyle. Plus, the food is amazing! We are saving on cost, but not on quality.
