Sept brides - peonies?

For those of you married in September - did any of you have peonies in your boquet/centerpieces/anywhere?  I am in LOVE with peonies and will pay to get them, but after meeting with some florists, some look at me like I am crazy since they are out of season.  I figure they have to be able to come from somewhere!  Am I crazy to think that I can find someone who can get peonies in September?  If you did - who was your florist?  Thanks so much!

My florist explained that since they are out of season in September, it's not just that it is difficult to get them, but that they don't last very long-they start to look bad quickly.  My bet would be that some florists are hesitant to get them, even though they likely can, because the quality for that time of year will not be great.  I think that if you really want them despite their lack of staying-power, florists will just do it at a price since they are out of season.  GL!

Just a thought, but if you're in love with peonies would you be willing to put a few silk ones into a bouquet mixed with other real flowers?I understand entirely because peonies are special to my grandparents so I've compromised a few places to get them in. Good luck. :)

I had the same issue as I wanted Peonies in August. I think you have a chance of getting them, but I don't think a florist is going to guarantee you them. Since they are not in season the local floral wholesalers do not have them, but we found a site that you can order them online and thats where I got a lot of flowers that were not in season in Aug. However the week of the wedding we received an e-mail that they couldn't fulfill all of our order as some of the flowers were not available (so you never know), but they had alternatives that were nice as well. You could also look at using some types of garden roses (some do not look like regular roses) as I find them to be similar to peonies. E-mail at: laummill@hotmail.com if you want the site we used to order flowers. You can also look at my detail pictures if you like...I didn't want all peonies, I just wanted "garden" looking flowers in bright pinks/purples, etc. And MOST of the flowers we used were out of season but we were able to order online: http://www.s1clients.com/index.php?do=photocart&viewGallery=1731 (passcode - millerwed) But as I said before I don't think a florist is going to guarantee they can give you Peonies because they can't be 100% sure they can get them.

Oh how I LOVE peonies!  I did want to add (beside the cost factor & them being seasonal) is that they are a very picky flower.  I was told that they will not open at a certain temperature and you run the risk of them looking like this http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1226/528552750_3ab5d0e4f4.jpg
