Bridal Salons to avoid

Aimee bridal at Rt 7, Cherry Hill, Avoid Store is dirty.Salespersons are lazy and they do not offer assistance in gown selection or trying the gowns. Those ladies just sat behind the counter and talked. Jaywest at Haddonfield Salespersons are stuck-up and rude. Ignore me the whole time. No help was offered to me and so I just left .Prices are also high.

Thanks for the tip. I'm trying to go for my first look on Tuesday and I want to go to 2 places. Anyone have any suggestions where? I especially want to try on a lot of Maggie Sottero dresses. I heard they are sold at Irma's, Angel Bridal, Lily and Kay. Anyone have any opinions of these places?

I wore a Maggie Sottero dress and got it from Lily's.  I heard mixed things about this store but I had a great experience.  Julie was our salesperson and she was wonderful to work with!

There's always David's Bridal. I thought the one in Maple Shade was very nice - staff was very helpful, great gown selection! I ended up buying my gown on Ebay, but I would still recommend David's.

I bought my gown at Bridal Garden in Marlton.  I was recommended by family and friends to go there because their gowns are beautiful and the staff is helpful and very professional.  I brought a picture of the type of dress I wanted...they told me they didn't have the same exact dress, but they had something similar, so she brought the dress down and I knew it was THE DRESS as soon as I saw it in the bag! Essentially, she knew what I'd love just by looking at one picture. They ask you your budget as soon as you walk in, so they won't bring you anything out of your price range, although she knew the dress she brought down for me would be mine and it was just over my budget, so they dropped $400 off the price of the gown so that I wouldn't go over even with the price of alterations.  Here is my dress: (!!!)http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i138/taccoten/mygown.jpg

Just know that from what I have heard Lily is way way overpriced. I went there to try on my Maggie but ended up buying it somewhere else just because it was such a big difference in price. My older sister did the same thing. She got her's at Bridal Manor across from Tera Nova, they were super great there. I ended up getting mine in DE since that is where my FI is and instead of paying 1300 like Lily wanted I got it for 790!!!HTH

I went to Jay West and they couldn't have been nicer.  Did you have an appointment?  If not, they probably had customers who made them and had to help them first.  I found their prices to be comparable to everywhere else I looked.  Irma's was also great.  I had a less than stellar experience at the Bridal Garden.

Avoid Bridal garden at all cost...I made the huge mistake of buying both my wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses there. There staff are incompetant and unprofessional. They ordered my wedding dress in the wrong color and when it came in they didn't want to fix the problem. As for my bridesmaids dresses they ordered so big that my bridesmaids had problems getting them taken in enough to make them fit. AS I posted in my vender review I gave them an F. If you look at reviews of them on the internet many many women have had major problems with them.

MOST people go on the internet to post negative reviews.  Bridal Garden will show you the order prior to submitting it to avoid ordering the wrong color and size. They bring out the designer size chart and take measurements to leave the size decision up to you. I did not have a problem with Bridal Garden and am very happy I went with them.   I find many people won't tell a vendor how they truly feel so it is impossible for them to meet their expectations. Obviously you just walked away and trashed them later without telling them how disappointed you were, because if you did tell them I know they would have went out of their way to exceed your expectations.

On that you are wrong...they know exactly how I felt about their service and their major screw ups because I spoke with their management countless times. They are totally incompetant and I stand by that statment. Im glad you had a good experience with them but I would say you are the exception rather than the rule.

I didn't have a good experience at Irma's, but a lot of girls on here did.  And I DID have a great experience at Bridal Garden and some people didn't.  Not everyone will have the same experience because everyone has different expectations and certain personalities clash with different consultants. I wouldn't rule Bridal Garden out!  I mean, I purchased the very first dress my consultant brought down and she was just so nice and I'm in love with my dress (that they didn't have anywhere else in the local area)!!

I was not singling you out, I was generally speaking therefore I am not wrong.  I don't understand how you justify calling the salon incomPETENT when you did not deal with the entire salon.  The consultant that I have been working with is fully qualified for the job and your negative reviews would ultimately hurt her business.  I don't consider that fair.

My bridesmaid's sister got her dress at the Bridal Garden and loved the service there, however, it was not the same service when her bridesmaids got their dresses there. They were not nice at all. Plus, you don't get to see all the dresses they have in stock because they pull the dresses for you. I think it's nice to see everything that a store has to offer.Yours Forever Bridal in Voorhees is really nice. Nancy, who owns the store, is amazing. She really listens to you and narrows down to the dress your looking for. She was the only person (and I went to 27 stores through out the state, PA, and DE) to really know her merchandise and was able to narrow down to a dress that had aspects in which I liked. In the end, I didn't love the dress so I didn't buy from her.Avoid Tesi's in Ventor, near Atlantic City AT ALL COSTS!! They were the rudest people I've ever met. I didn't have an appointment when I came in but I also didn't have an appointment with other salons too and it never was a problem. Tesi's had gowns on the floor where you can browse and they wouldn't let me look at them. I had to look through booklets. I could've done that myself at home online! I told them I wouldn't try anything on and that I wouldn't take away any time from the other bride that was there but they would not allow it. AVOID TESI'S!!I eventually bought my dress at Wedding Belles in Linwood, right outside Ocean City. They have a good selection including designers like Justin Alexander, Paloma Blanca, Nicole Miller. They also are the only bridal salon to carry Blue by Enzoani, who I absolutely LOVE and is also the designer of the dress I bought. (Lily's also is an authorized retailer but they have maybe one or two Blue dresses). Tina and Terry are amazing and really nice and very helpful and patient.Hope this helps!

I forgot to mention, Franny's in Atco, carries Maggie and she had the cheapest Maggie dresses I had come across. Franny is so sweet and when you ask her for her honest opinion she will give it to you. Also, if you want to make the trip down to Newark, DE there is Frank Bernard's which has even cheaper dresses than Franny's and also Brides and Grooms which also carry Maggie. Brides and Grooms had reasonable prices and Marie is a sweetheart, very helpful and nice.

I totally agree with you on both of them! Aimee Michelle is so messy that you can't even look at the dresses. They have a million old styles that they need to get rid of and the sales people just send you in the back and they don't check on you at all!Jay West is a beautiful store but they are snobby and they ridiculously up charge their dresses. I was torn between two dresses and instead of going to my bridal salon to try them on again I went there because they have the same desingner. One dress was 700 dollars more and the other one was 500 dollars more there. I don't know how they can get away with that!

Oh I bought my dress at Tesi Bridal in Ventnor. I have been to every one of the stores mentioned plus about 5 more and Tesi has the best selection, the best prices, and she is the most helpful. I can't say one bad thing about her!

North star you are crazy!!! Looking at all the dresses she has in stock through a catalog is such a better system. You can't even see the dresses when they are all smashed together. The reason you have to have an appointment is because they want to give you all of their attention. They gave me two appointments for about  1-2 hours each until i finally made my decision. Don't avaid Tesi's its the best bridal salon in the area!

Goes to show you that reviews are just opinions: some people have a good experience with a particular vendor, and some people have a bad one! It is good to be warned, but it is also good to keep an open mind.

I got a Maggie dress from Irma's. She does not take appointments and I did have to wait, but it was well worth it. She took her time with me and she picked out the most perfect dress for my body type. I went to her salon with pics of dresses I wanted to try on, and I tried them on...but nothing looked as good as the one she picked out for me. Irma really knows her stuff. I also went to Jay West, and had an appointment, and the sales lady was really nice. I did see a dress there that I liked, but the one form Irma's I loved loved loved, and it was $750 cheaprer....bonus! I also went to David's Bridal in Deptford and I did not have a good experience at all. Good luck on your search :)

Hi-I live in the DC area, but bought my dress in South Jersey so I could go with my FMIL.  I went to Jay West, and Forever Yours (in Voorhees).  I had great experiences at both stores.  At Jay West, the consultant allowed me to see each dress on the rack, and pick ones I wanted to try on.  I don't remember her name, but I thought she was very sweet. I think making an appointment is important (well, it was especially important since I was coming out of my way!).  I ended up getting my dress at Forever Yours, and I've been very happy so far.
