Online Retailers and Shipping to Hawaii

Have any of you bought decor from online retailers and had it shipped to Hawaii?  I keep finding good deals, but when shipping gets added to my cart, the price sometimes doubles or triples!  Anyone have any luck finding vendors with lower shipping rates?  In particular, I am looking to buy glass vases in bulk and some shepherd hooks...Or...do you know the best-priced store locally to find these items?  I've looked at Ben Franklin, Wal-mart, and Floradec...

It is way too much to pay for shipping here. For glass vases I suggest Walmart or Ross. They definitely have the best prices. Floradec is much more expensive but they may have more variety if you need that. Ben Franklin is expensive too unless you luck out and use a 40% off coupon. Also you may want to look on Craigslist. I have no idea who sells shepards hooks though. Good luck finding what you need. : )

I used dollartree.com for my cylinder vases.  I also ordered stuff from crate and barrel.  Their shipping is calculated based on the dollar amount rather than the weight so shipping costs are really low.I think that Walmart has really good prices for vases but depends what type you are looking for.

Depending on what type of vases you're looking for, I would check Pricebusters.  We bought ours their and they were about $2 a piece.  They have new stuff in all the time and if you can't find the amount you need, there are a ton of locations that you can get them from (they'll be able to tell you how many the other locations have).

Hi,I had the same issue as you and ended doubling the cost (shipping was slightly more).  You can opt for parcel post by the USPS - but it take 3 weeks (oye lesson learned).Depending on the exact shape and size a lot of vendors will "rent" the equipment.  I think eacerna's florist have vases.  Also a lot of coordinators rent out equipment (i.e. votives, LED lights, lighting, shepard hooks etc).It doesn't hurt to ask - Dianna Shitanishi had a bunch of items (learned about it later).Florists will also rent things (Hemingways, Yvonne Florals) but you need to use their floral services.Good luck!

For the shephard hooks, I have seem them in gardening centers of stores like Home Depot and Lowe's. Not sure what stores you have near you, but you could possibly look in the gardening center of WalMart, or at a local nursery, or even hardware stores like True Value, etc.

Thanks, girls.  I ran to Pricebusters during my lunch, but didn't really see much at the downtown store.  Maybe I'll try some of the others this weekend.  Ross had a couple that looked promising and the price was right...just gotta see if I can find enough of them.  I'll try Home Depot for the shepherd hooks...thanks!Bulin, how much was your shipping from dollartree?  Did they arrive okay?  I don't feel comfortable shipping glass...

I ordered the 36 vases (3 cases) and I think the total was around $76.  They all came perfectly fine and none of them were cracked.  So the shipping was more than the items but it was still cheaper than the stores here.Later I ordered 12 vases from crate and barrel and the shipping was only $11!!!  I couldn't believe it so I called customer service and they confirmed it.  Those vases also came in perfectly fine.  Crate and Barrel definitely packs them much better.  Sorry, I re-read my post so to clarify...crate and barrel calculates shipping based on the price.  DollarTree is based on weight. For local places, I saw some at Ross but I wasn't able to get enough of the same ones.  Also, at the Hawaii Kai price buster, I saw some but they were smaller vases.  I think both stores still costs more than Walmart though. What kind are you looking for?  Let me know and i'll keep an eye out for you.

Thanks, I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for yet.  I'm going to Floradec today after work to see what my options are...then I'm going to try and find them cheaper elsewhere.  I'll probably post another post when I decide :) Thanks for your help everyone!
