vendor review - Bethesda, MD

Okay, I got married more than 2 months ago, so this is way overdue, but I still wanted to post a review of a few of my vendors (especially my hair salon!)Bella Bethesda Salon - A++Me and my entire bridal party got our hair done here, and the ladies at this salon were all fantastic!  Stacy, the wedding coordinator, was wonderful and accommodating and really made me feel like my wedding day was important to her, too.  At the last minute (3 weeks before the wedding) I needed to completely change the time of all our appointments, and Stacy made it happen.  I did two trials with Katie, the stylist, and she listened and made suggestions, and I LOVED my hair on my wedding day.  Also, Bella's prices were the most affordable I could find.  They've got a customer for life now.  Seriously, I can't rave about them enough.Reception Venue - Glen Echo Park - A-Our reception was in the Bumper Car Pavilion at Glen Echo Park, and it was as close to perfect as could be.  Emily was super easy to work with and incredibly helpful.  The only drawback was that because it's a national park, there were some restrictions on what we could and could not do, but we were fully aware of all of those restrictions when we booked the place.  No surprises.Caterer - Matters of Taste - B-I had read some fantastic reviews of MOT, and some really terrible reviews, so I was a bit apprehensive about using them.  We worked with Christina, and she was incredibly helpful during the early stages of the planning process.  She met with us personally, worked with our budget, and make excellent suggestions.  She answered tons of questions and really helped a lot.  And, the food was delicious.  However, as summer picked up and wedding season was in full swing, she became increasingly difficult to contact and significantly less responsive.  On the day-of the wedding, a few minor details were overlooked (no water in the centerpieces, favors were passed out after the reception had started, etc.) but overall, I was pleased with them.Videography - AVS - A-AVS is not a top-notch videographer, so if that's what you're looking for, look elsewhere.  AVS was very affordable and Elizabeth was sweet, easy to work with, and helpful.  The final product was good - she caught all the key parts of the ceremony and reception and put it all together very nicely.  You get what you pay for.  For what we paid, we were very pleased with the results.Photography - Anderson Photography - A+My college friend Peter flew out from Chicago to shoot our wedding, and I couldn't be happier with the photos.  I'm sure you'd have to pay a hefty travel fee if you book him, so not sure I'd recommend him here.  Check out fiercelyalive.com if you're interested. All our other "vendors" were friends, not professionals, so while I loved their work and think they're fabulous, I won't do reviews on here.  :)

OMG!  I am so glad to see this.  We are having our reception at GEP with MOT also.  I am SO relieved to hear things went well at GEP (and yeah, some of the restrictions do suck...what can you do) I am also very nervous about MOT and Christina as well, but FI has convinced me things will be fine (esp. since we have a DOC) Where did you have your ceremony?

Congrats!  Would you please send me the contact information for your videographer?  I want a video, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg for this.  My email is mzeidner at gmail dot com.  Thanks!!!

we had our ceremony at Church of the Redeemer, a really cute little church literally right across the street from GEP, so all of our guests parked at GEP for the entire event.  we had a DOC, as well, and it really helped things run smoothly, i think.no, Bella didn't do my makeup, i had a friend do that for me to cut down on costs.  but i'm sure they'd do a great job!
