Welcome Bags.....

I am trying to think of ideas for our welcome bags that the guests will receive upon check-in.  Does anyone have any inexpensive suggestions?

    Hey Cassie! We decided to skip the bags after much back and forth, but here is what I would have put in it and what I love to see in the bags as a guest: a couple of waters or cokes (super cheap if you can score some from Costco or Sams, and super appreciated after a night of partying in NOLA), maps (yes, of course if I had all the money in the world I would do a Laura Hooper, but you can get free ones from the Convention Bureau), itinerary/welcome letter/fave places from y'all (so many girls on here have rockin' templates) and something small and local/Louisiana (pralines, chocolate fleur de lis) or something small.**The only reason we decided not to do them, is that all 250 invited are from out of town, and trying to get to all of those hotels rooms (no room block for us, St Pattys Day) all over town- yikes stripes.  **Just checked out the Knot store- and everything is on huge sale- special teas, lemonades, coffees, mints- aka, everything with your monogram on it!

    We put packets from the NOCVB, a bottle of Kentwood water, an Aunt Sally's praline, bag of Zapp's chips, a voodoo doll, some beads, and a stick of Roman candy. It's not too expensive when you buy all the items in bulk.  Including the personalized bags we ordered, we spent about $5-6 for each bag.We delivered the bags to about 10-12 hotels other than the ones we had blocks at and it really wasn't that bad.  We put the bags in boxes in the back of the SUV we rented for the week and made a list for each hotel of who should receive bags and how many (for couples or groups traveling together).  DH drove and let MOH and myself out at each hotel and we just grabbed the appropriate number of bags and dropped them with the front desk (along with the applicable list).  Bourbon Orleans and (I think Westin Canal Place charged us a fee even for leaving the bags at the front desk, which sucked but we just went with it.

    My MIL is awesome and she did the welcome bags for us. She did a "north meets south" theme since my husband is from the north and I'm from the south. So for NOLA stuff, she put, gummy alligators, Zapps chips, pralines, beads, shot glasses (cheap plastic ones). Also included water bottles and cokes, etc.

    We're doing similar items as everyone else: beads, pralines, chocolate fleur de lis lollipops (my mom is making), zapps chips, water, a voodoo doll magnet, a welcome letter, maps and info from the visitors bureau. We had cloth tote bags printed with our names/wedding date, and a fleur de lis (in my bio). Good luck!
