Cool, modern reception venue?

I am looking for a reception venue and I finding a lot of beautiful, romantic places. But I want something modern, and a bit trendy. Maybe somewhere downtown. Does anyone have any suggestions?Thanks!

You might want to check out the Palm Door which is a downtown loft venue. I don't know much about it, but from their website it looks beautiful! I bet there's a lot you can do with it to create something all your own! Good luck!

i'm getting married at the palm door in january and i've been very happy with it so far! the people there are so great to work with. they'll let you do all the crazy ideas you dream up! i love that i can nail things to the walls.you might want to also check out the arthouse. a friend of mine got married there and it was very urban chic.

I was thinking about having mine at the Design Center of Austin at Penn Field (www.designcenterofaustin.com/) but ended up deciding on a more vintage feel. Check it out, it is really modern and pretty! I think it would make a great venue.

i too was looking for a modern, trendy space. i looked into the arthouse and the palm door, i also looked at a few other places...you can rent out the rooftop deck on the ranch on w. 6th street (contact jenniannwoody@gmail.com)the design center of austin is not downtown, it's on s. congress, but very cool: http://www.austinweddingday.com/spotlights/DesignCenterofAustin.aspflatbed press also rents out for weddings. it's close to campus (contact mark@flatbedpress.com)we looked around a lot for a modern and somewhat trendy space and finally decided on having our reception at the mexican american cultural center on town lake close to downtown because we wanted an indoor/outdoor space and the balcony is great and you can see some of the austin skyline: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/macc/good luck!

Does anyone have general information on the design center? Such as the capacity?

the cost is $2700 just for the space. chairs/tables/etc. will need to be rented. you can have it all day, though on saturdays it is open for business til 4. here's the floorplan. the space in yellow is what you'd have for the rental http://www.designcenterofaustin.com/images/ColorFloorPlan.pdfthe last time i spoke to the woman in charge she said they were getting new management and she wasn't 100% sure they were going to allow it to still be rented out for events, but she should know by now if that is true or not.when i first spoke to her there were some rules about noise too, but that may have changed.
