    I think all you need to say is that no one in their right mind plans the shower six months in advance and to stop thinking about it before then.

    My mom hosted my shower (actually, she hosted in town, FMIL hosted OOT).  Only one BM questioned why the BP didn't do it (and OOT BM).  The rest of the BM's said they didn't know they should plan the shower and they were planning the bacholerette so they were fine with it.  All of the showers I've been to this year (6 including my two) have all been hosted by a family member.  There is nothing wrong with that.

    The "family hosting the shower" thing isn't a big deal in my circle. My aunts hosted mine. I'd never even heard it was bad etiquette until I came on TK.
