Jojo

I am thinking about highlights but everyone keeps telling me to just color it instead. I have a bunch of layers in my hair so people have told me that highlights look weird with a bunch of layers. What do you think? Also, how can I get body at the top of my head? I like curling my hair but dont know how to not have the top look like a helmet. Ive tried blow drying it upside down with a round brush but still flatsville

Well I am really "pro-highlights" cause I have them year round, so I would definitely suggest highlights. I have long layers from the front to the back and if the stylist knows what they are doing, they will know how to work the highlights around your hair. I don't remember if you go to a specific person? The girl that does my hair has done it for almost ten years and she recently opened her own salon and she's a teacher for goldwell. She's not cheap, but there's a coupon that first time clients can use that gets you 50% off. But I don't think it would look weird at all, I have always had layers and highlights and I love them. And for volume, do you blow dry in sections? I usually split it in two sections (well really three, I separate my bangs too): the top and bottom and blow dry the bottom first with a large round brush and then do the top. When you do the top, pull the hair up as you blow dry-- pulling it up adds volume.. so blow dry up-- if that makes sense. Then when you are done, you can tease the crown of your head with one of those fine combs.. Also, if you add mousse right before you blow dry, you will get a lot more fullness and volume. I use a round brush like this http://www.marlobeauty.com/images/T/4209.jpg  I forgot how to make it clicky. I guess its harder to explain it by typing it! Let me know if I need to clarify anything!

Thanks Jojo! I do blow dry in sections but I have never tried it with products or the "up" trick. I will try tomorrow and let you know how I did. Hopefully I wont come to work looking like a crazy woman
