Local treats for OOT bags?

Hey everyone! Is anyone doing OOT bags?  I am not originally from KC, but I'd like to add some "local flair" to our OOT bags.I thought of BBQ sauce, but then realized that people would have to check that in bags and not everyone likes to do that.  Plus I'd need to find someplace that sells mini bottles of GOOD bbq sauce.Any ideas?

Louisburg Apple Cider Mill is a popular option during the Fall :)BBQ is a good idea as well! Are you going to buy a bottle of something original and then pouring that into the smaller bottles? Gates BBQ is popular.A treat with sunflower seeds that you can make?Something with Wizard of Oz is classic. Kansas related. haha That's all I got at the moment. Try looking at the KS stores around you for more ideas. There's a place in Crown Center I know and a place out on 119th and Nall.

Oh I didn't even think of buying a bunch and pouring into smaller bottles!!  Great idea!I've got plenty of time, obviously, but I'm trying to fit the OOT bags into the budget and plan for them now.

How about popcorn balls from Topsy's?

Definitely popcorn balls from Topsy's! I know they sell chocolate-covered colorful sunflower seeds at some of those Kansas Sampler places, that might be cute. They are REALLY good and you might be able to find them in bulk at a candy store like Mr. Bulky's (is that even still open?). Then you could put them into cute little bags.

There is a bakery at the legends that makes red slipper frosted cookies that are really yummy.  You could maybe put one of those in there for a Wizard of Oz link.

You could also throw in some KU or Kstate gear, Chiefs, or Royals or Tbones gear (it could be pencils, pens, magnets, key chains - something small) I like the idea of the boulevard beer. For families that dont drink you could give out bottles of shatto milk (they have awesome root beer flavored milk yummm its so good) The sunflower seeds and bbq sauce are great ideas maybe you could throw in a copy of "the ink" in each one. it has lots of ideas for things to do and places to eat and guests may not know to look for it and pick it up. there is a store at The Legends that has a lot of Kansas collectibles and things in it. its called pride of kansas city. i posted a link below to the site, sorry if it doesnt work im kind of computer retarded http://www.prideofkc.net/Pride_of_Kansas_City/Home.html

Ah, so many great ideas!!  Thank you all so much!I never thought of putting a copy of the Ink in there, but that is such an amazing idea!  Our wedding is on a Sunday but a bunch of people are going to make a weekend of it, so that just fits right in!!  :D

I used Gates BBQ sauce in my OOT bags, if you call Gates they can do the mini 2 oz bottles of BBQ sauce for you so you won't have to worry about people carrying them on to the plane.  I also added a Kansas City postcard for people to mail back home if they wanted.  And some other goodies too, I have a picture of all the contents--e-mail me at triplm [at] hotmail [dot] com and I can send you the pic!
