vendor hell

I'm T - 22 days today...and in vendor hell. i opted to have my wedding at a historic location which required me to contract with vendors for everything from our dishwashers and dishes to our fancy little chairs. now, i'm totally regretting the decision and wishing i had gone with one of those all-inclusive hotel deals.

everytime my phone rings, i seem to be getting a call from a vendor who has "a problem" to discuss. One's shipment hasn't arrived so I need to pick out new xyz, another is 25 chairs short for my ceremony, another demanding an "extra" deposit which was not delineated in the contract.

i'm so glad i have contracts in writing with everyone so i can point to the mutually agreed upon terms and conditions when they start telling me about these problems, but I am getting very frustrated. I don't want to be unfriendly, I don't want to be angry... I want to get along with my vendors and be a pleasant, happy bride. But I feel like yelling at half of them and telling them to just get their job done. UGhhhhh....

anyone else at the point where they want to pull their hair out?

At this point, unfortunately you can expect to be on the phone 24/7 with vendors (I know I was).  Some of the things you're describing really just aren't your problem... picking backups is one thing, but they're responsible for the 25 chairs, you shouldn't even know about that.  Can anyone help you out by returning calls and doing the yelling for you?  When we got close to the wedding and someone called with a problem, I just told them that I was sure they would work it out.  They did, because they had to.

Deligate, deligate, deligate. Neetu - have someone take care of the calls for you and book yourself a spa day, girl. You  need it. You do not have to pay for anything that isn't included on your initial contract. Whip those things out and bring them to your next vendor meeting!

Lol...Neetu, I am laughing because I was in the EXACT same position as you a couple of months ago. I also picked a historic, empty space venue and it was such a pain. I also wished many many times I just did the hotel wedding but I AM SURE it will be worth it. It is sooo painful now but it will all work out. After my wedding, I felt my hard work was worth it. The guests LOVED the venue and thought the wedding was so unique because it wasn't a traditional venue. They really appreciated the architecture and uniqueness. So, it will be worth it. You can PM if you want some info but if it makes you feel any better, my venue DID NOT HAVE air conditioning, proper wiring, no chairs, some tables, no linens, no dishes, no dishwasher, no bar, no barware, had poor lighting, no waitstaff, no floorplan for chairs/tables AND had tons of STRICT rules and regulations. It was really painful. But, I look back and feel like my hard work was worth it because my guests loved it and my husband and parents were really proud I pulled it off. Especially since my husband at times doubted if I could pull it off and my in-laws also doubted it

Some tips....the caterer should be able to rent all kitchen equipment for you even if there is no dishwasher, he should be able to calculate what he would need, he should also be able to rent bars, tables for buffet, linens for buffet.

The decorator should be able to make a floor plan with you. If not, weddingwire has a great floor plan you can create once you find the dimensions. They also can do linens, napkins and moving of chairs/tables

An energy company can do Air Conditioning if you need that

And a stage company or tent rental company should be able to do the stage for the mandap for you.

Hope this helps. Hang in there. And, I am proud of you for taking on this challenge because I know it is NOT easy
