To airbrush, Not to airbrush, That is the question

Hello Ladies,

Can you please tell me the pros and cons of airbrushing and normal makeup? I  don't want to pay for multiple trials!

What are you choosing and why?

Also, if you got married in July with humidity, that can help me factor in my research.

Thanks,
Christine

  •   I am getting married in May and have started to do regular tanning in the last month. When I asked about air brush they told me that it runs the risk of looking streaky and leaving creases in you wrists, knees, etc. Cost wise it is cheaper for a month of tanning. The salon I go to is $30 a month and spray on way $45 for one application. I go tanning every other day for 15 minutes. I hope this helped!

  • I'm getting my makeup airbrushed! It feels so light and it lasted all day when I had my trial! I just like that it feels like I'm not wearing anything and it looks flawless in photos! That's why I'm choosing airbrush.

  • Whenever I wear regular makeup, it doesn't last very long, so I've decided to go the airbrush route. I just had my engagement pics done this past weekend and my airbrush makeup lasted 10+ hours.
  • I want to do airbrush, but I have some moles/freckles here and there and I like them, will it cover them up??

I was airbrushed twice for my wedding and E-pics (PIB).  I always recommend it.  It is lighweight while still providing great coverage, lasts all nights and photographs beautifully.  I looked as great in my last picture of the night as I did in my first.  For my E-pics, I was outside in the Texas sun for 2 hours and it still looked great at 10:00 that night.  I did my first wedding makeup trial with regular makeup and having been airbrushed for my E-pics, I found the airbrushing far superior.  I highly recommend it.

Cassandra, I was adamant about covering my freckles and let my MUA know this.  We discussed it at the trial so that I would be happy and still not look cakey (which I didn't.)
ETA: Oh, I misread that and I agree with the PP below about adjusting the coverage.  My MUA didn't want to cover them completely so we reached a happy medium.  :)

Kristen the OP is talking about airbrush makeup, not airbrush tanning.

You can adjust the coverage of airbrush makeup if you want to have your moles/freckles still show.
  • I will def try airbrush! I like my freckles and I want to keep them too! Im gonna do a test run this summer and take lots of pics!
  • ABSOLUTLY LOVE IT! i have no cons!

  • To try airbrushed makeup for free, go to a local Sephora and test out their product.  It's called Temptu and professional makeup artists in the Bay Area use the same thing, or stuff very similar!

I think OP means airbrush makeup, not airbrush tan.  But good to know!  :)
  • I was a bridesmaid in my cousins wedding in October and had airbrushed makeup. I loved it so much i am doing it for my wedding. It lasted all day. I didnt need to any touchups other then a little bit of lip gloss. They did a great job blending it with my skin. It looked really natural. I would recommend it to everyone.
  • For my engagement shoot i got airbrushed makeup done and I LOVED it! It stayed on all day and it was super light!

  • Has anyone tried it who is super fair-skinned?  I am "Nicole Kidman pale" with some freckles, and I'm interested after reading all this... but so many makeup lines don't carry shades light enough for me.  I am also getting married in July like the OP, so this sounds like it might be perfect if it will work with my skin tone.
  • Berryblond- I am using air brush and my make up artist has every color you could possibly imagine from Nicole Kidman plae to beautiful darks for African American skin tones.  Ask any potential artist what brand they are using. Khett & Dianair are two very quality brands that professionals use which cover a wide range of shades.

Also, a quick warning to all - any one who tells you that they use air brush make up brands but apply by hand instead of with an actual compressor should not be allowed anywhere near your face! One of the more budget friendly artists I was in contact with told me that it made the makeup look for natural and have longer coverage on your face. False- you want the compressor for true airbrushed results.  At that moment I decided to shell out the extra dollars for the professional in my area I had been wanting to hire.
  • I actually had a bad experience with airbrushing.  I typically do not wear any type of make-up at all.  And for me airbrushing looked like I was wearing a mask.  I didn't think it even looked like me in the end.  It was super make-up looking and not natural at all (which was what I was looking for).  I felt like in person everyone could see it caked on, but the pictures we took looked amazing...  oh well, I went with a more natural only powder look.
You should totally try it, it may work for you.

  • I just had my makeup trial this morning and had airbrushing done for the first time. It is AMAZING! Very smooth coverage, doesn't feel cakey at all, and has stayed on flawlessly all day! Definitely recommend it!
  • Where does one find a Make Up Airbrush Artist?  I'm having a difficult time enough as it is finding a *hair salon* in Dover, DE (I know its the capital, but it's WAY small!)...let alone someone who does airbrushed makeup or gelish nails...help?

  • So what do they actually airbrush on?  Just foundation/blush or eyeshadow too?  Also, how would you touch up if you cried?
