Friend as Officiant

Did any of you have a friend officiate your wedding?  Where/how did they get ordained?  I found a website where we could get our friend ordained for free, but I'm just worried about the legality so it would make me feel a lot better if someone could tell me what they did and that it worked.  Thanks!

    Hopefully someone will come on and give you some first-hand info. But getting ordained free via the web is no problem in MD!

    Our friend officiated our wedding. I believe he was ordained through Universal Life Church but I am not sure since he had done another friend's wedding before ours. It is completely legit! GL!

    Ditto PPs about it being entirely legit! My dad will be officiating our wedding; he got ordained via the Universal Life Church.GL!
