My fiance has said from the beginning that he wanted to wear a gray suit. His groomsmen said they would much rather rent tuxes than rent (or buy) a suit. Would it look strange for the groom to wear a gray suit & the GM to wear black tuxes?
Do your groomsmen own suits already? I went to a wedding where the groom and groomsmen all wore their own suits (I think some were black and some were gray). It looked really nice.
If they don't own suits already, FI bought a suit at Nordstrom Rack about a year ago for about the same price as he and our groomsmen will be paying to rent their tuxes (~$150).
If it was the other way around I would say it's fine. But that's like asking if it would be weird to have your bridesmaids in full ballgowns and you in a sundress. See what I mean?
