Hair/makeup pricing

Happy Sunday (blah, which means my weekend's almost over)! So I was wondering what seems to be an average price for makeup/hair on the big day? And did you pay for your BM's to get theirs done or did they pay for it? I wanted to pay for them, but FI thinks that I am being too nice and reminded me of the "tight" budget we have. What is the standard thing to do? TIA =)

I think if you have a particular way you want them to look on your wedding day, you should pay for their hair/makeup. if you like the way they look on an everyday basis and they can do it themselves, it's not such a big deal. it is a nice gesture, however. i gave my girls $50 each and just told them no updo's but otherwise they could get it styled however they wanted. and i like the way they look everyday so i just told them nothing too fancy for makeup and they did their own. for hair, i believe i paid $100 plus tip. it was slightly less for the trial. i did my own makeup so i didn't have that expense.

I'm going to pay for my girls' hair, maybe their makeup too. I figure they're already shelling out a lot to get a dress and fly down here, so I ought to help them out with the other costs. I don't want it to be a PITA for them to stand beside me at my wedding. And I'm guessing that it won't be more than $75 per girl for hair, no idea for makeup yet, and I only have two girls. So if that comes out of my pocket and not the wedding budget, ok by me. Or you know what? It can't take that long to save up a little more than planned. If you have a bunch of girls in your wedding party, though, that might be a different story. So maybe this isn't that much help. ;)

I am going to Box Office Hair in College Park! I was really frustrated with what other places were charging for hair and makeup and they had REALLY great prices! The weird thing is...they work on tiered pricing...the more experienced the stylist is, the more expensive the cost. If you went with a Sr. Stylist, I believe that would be approximately $35'ish for hair and approximately $35'ish for makeup! I had my trial done 2 weeks ago and WOW it was incredible!! My hair looked so beautiful and my makeup was PERFECT!! I went and had a 2nd trial done at another place that was more expensive and I didn't like it even 1/2 as much as I did BOH! So that's my plug for them because they really were fun (the place is themed like you're really a star! LOL) and they did amazing! I had the manager of the place doing my hair and makeup and even my MOM was impressed (she's not easy to impress)! My mom had a "Sr. Stylist" do her hair and makeup and she looked awesome!

My makeup was $75 My hair was discounted since I've been going to my stylist for 5ish years.  Her normal price is $100. I told my BMs they could do whatever they wanted.  My sisters and H's sisters got their hair done and they all did it some form of curly and down (looked really good).  My MOH did her own hair, and the 3 others wore it down and straight.  Everyone looked great!  My MOH did my sisters' makeup and my mom's and herself.  His sisters got their makeup done somewhere and the other 3 did it themselves. If you're going to have them do it in a specific style, I think you should pay for it.  If you're not, it's up to them. GL and HTH! Here I am with my two sisters.

I think I spent about $120 for my makeup, including a travel fee since I got married on a Sunday. I can honestly say that booking Leslie for my makeup was one of the BEST decisions I made!My girls all did their own makeup. :)

Thanks ladies, your input always helps! I will have a trial with Meghann Davis soon. I heard of her through here. Hopefully she can work some magic because I am exciting about this part of the planning!!

I'm using Patricia LeJune for hair and make-up. I think it's $60 for hair and $60 for makeup plus she comes to you. Our DOC recommended her for my sister's wedding and she was AMAZING! They are also doing my bridal party and mom. The girls are paying for themselves and they have all opted to have their hair and make up done. A friend of mine also used Patricia and two of my BM's were in her wedding and are so excited that they are doing our make-up/beauty. HTH :)
