How to post a picture avatar?

I don't remember how to add a photo avatar to my profile so that the pic appears in all my postings. one of my pics is on TheNest but not here. I'd really appreciate step-by-step instructions. Thanks!

    copy and past this link in your signature profile (smile face button on the top of the page)...remove all the ** and put the picture link where I typed to.... putpictureurlhere**" width="150"**>

    you can change the 150 to any number to make the picture smaller/bigger.
