Catlin Gardens

Hi Ladies, Anyone ever been or had a wedding here? Any thoughts? Thanks so much.

I went to a wedding there and I did not love the place. It is possible that it had more to do with the package the bride and groom had and not the venue itself. It has beautiful grounds but it started raining in the middle of the cocktail hour and we all had to run for cover. The bar is pretty far away from the main room and the bathrooms are downstairs which I found a little annoying. I like how the main room is tented. Overall, it is a very pretty place. I hear the inn on the grounds should be done soon and that is a big plus.

I agree with everything pp said. The wedding I went there, the weather was beautiful so the outside area was nice but there doesn't seem to be much of a plan for bad weather. I also didn't like the bathrooms being downstairs. It would be difficult for some older people. It's a pretty place though. I didn't think it was worth what my friend paid compared to other places but that's just my opinion.

I went to an outdoor cocktail hour there and it was absolutely beautiful.  The grounds, the setting, it was so romantic and peaceful.  The reception itself was very nice also, the bar is farther away but it didn't seem to impact anything.  The bathroom is downstairs which could be tough for older people.  We looked there for our day and I did really love it but for some reason I knew it was going to rain on our day and it wouldn't be worth it...and it did!  Whatever you decide, your day will be perfect!

I am getting married there next summer. The venue was perfect for us and the people there are very easy to work with. I would highly recommend that you go to one of the bridal tastings before you book. I went to the tasting and signed the contract right after. The bathroom downstairs is kind of annoying, which was one of our concerns (but the elevator is right next to it for the anyone who may not want to use the stairs). But in my opinion I would rather have the bathroom a distance a way rather than in the ballroom (which we did see). The bar is in a separate area, but we thought would be nice, because if people want to hang out at the bar and talk they would not be bothered by the music. I could tell you another concern for me was the outside venue for the cocktail our and rain, however they have a patio that is covered which is the back up plan. Of all the venues that I saw this had the most views for pictures (which was important to my FI and I). The packages were about the same price as others. I would highly recommend you visit it and see if it fits your FI and yourself. Happy venue hunting :)

I thought it was beautiful when we looked, but the lady I met with rubbed me the wrong way.  She didn't seem very flexible on things. I just feel like for that much money they should work with you a little and be more open to making substitutions if the things being switched are in the same price range anyways.   I also read a negative review of them in the "O" Orange magazine from a bride who said they kept not following through on promises and were not flexible - but that's just one person.  I also really wanted a venue that had lots of space for pictures.  But, because Catlin Gardens does multiple events in one day, I was worried we wouldn't have enough time to get our pics in w/o missing our cocktail hour.  It's a gorgeous place though.  It was the first place we looked and I was afraid I wouldn't think amything else lived up to it.  We wound up booking Roun Hill, which I fell in love with.  All this stuff really depends on personal preferences, but maybe if you liked the look of Catlin Gardens, you would like Round Hill too?

Has anyone ever done uplighting here? How did it look? Was it worth it?
