Per money discussions the other day...

Interesting poll from the Pets board (particularly considering how many votes there are...)http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/25680866.aspx

Someone on the Budget Weddings board started a poll recently that asked what everyone's PP price is and what that includes. I had mine all typed out (and it's on the low end for NNJ), then felt like crap when I saw that other people were paying $25pp and so I didn't hit the Post button.

I found that (as well as the comment about Money Matters' average being way higher) really interesting. Also, how nice would it be if we had the anonymous polls over here?  Would let people get the idea on what is average and what the distribution is without everyone getting upset about making individual answers.

I spent more on my photographer than most of these people spent on their entire wedding!

I think we have to consider what these people are getting for these prices, though. Probably about three items in the cocktail hour, then salad and entree (maybe only chicken, or only two choices) and a piece of cake. Maybe beer & wine instead of a full bar, in some cases.

Yes, but these wedding pp's don't have all of the things NJ weddings have. Like cheese and crackers is completely normal  for our cocktail hour. I saw a place down here in GA before we booked and it was $36 pp. It was gorgeous and they wined and dined you all night with the thing you could have, but when it comes right down to it, there weren't 8 hand passed items and a carving station, and ice sculptures at the cocktail hour and the venetian hour was cake... and that's it. I'm not saying that $100 pp is reasonable,  but they aren't accustomed to the weddings NJ has.

    church fee $25 - seriously!?!
  • edited December 2011
There is a girl on my club board, (budget bride) and her suggestion is to have the reception at the space your church offers with your ceremony fees. Her fee was 125 I think? Something leas than what we are spending and the church hall is actually pretty! The space my church has is in a basement and I'm pretty sure it's an additional charge. Things are just different. It's not fair really! Lol

We actually tossed around the idea of using our church's basement for a while. My mom suggested hiring a company to drape the walls.
