Cakes

Does anyone know of any good affordable ($2-2.50 per slice) cake places they can recommend around Lenexa?

Icing on the cake is wonderful.  The woman's name is Lynn and the store is somewhere in Overland PArk.  They had a cake testing that my fiance and I went to a few weekends ago.

Yes! I am looking for this too! I can't believe how expensive cakes are! Ugh!! Everyone tells me to just get a sheet cake or cupcakes but i want the traditional wedding cake as cheap as possible :) I've heard good things about Icing on the Cake too (they're at 83rd and Metcalf I think) and I've also heard great things about  Just Cakes (their website is justcakes1.com  they are in Bonner Springs though so depending on your wedding location they may be more expensive with delivery charges. I've heard they are really great to work with!) GOOD LUCK!!

I'm waiting on a call back from a lady... However, I'm doing a simple two tier cake -- one to freeze and one to cut -- and then supplementing with various sheet cakes in different flavors.

We are using Hy-Vee for our cake.  They start at $2 a slice.  They actually do a really good job and their cake taste great!!  Since we want more design on ours, our cake is $3 a slice (that is as expensive as they go though).

We are using "Annie O's Custom Cakes."  We were shocked at how expensive cakes were also!  She offers lots of options (flavors, fillings) at no extra charge and her portion sizes are larger.Icing on the Cake was a close second.

Vivian with Spectacular Cakes.  We got a 100 serving 3 tier coconut, filled cake and also two 48 serving filled chocolate sheet cakes for just under $400.  That was also with delivery...it was beautiful and we got lots of compliments on it!  She works out of her house at around 66th and Metcalf.  Great to work with. www dot cakemiss dot gobot dot com

We are getting ours from HyVee.  It is $2 a slice.  I really wanted a 3 tier cake so we are getting the smallest they have and the whole thing with delivery costs $203.

Try The Pie Lady in Old Town Lenexa. The name is a little misleading but her cake is really yummy!

Hyvee at 95th is great. We got our cake there and it was very good-- We got white chocolate (had pieces of white chocolate actually in it) with raspberry filling. Go at least for a tasting, you will be surprised. Also, the head baker there won awards from food network for his decorating. His name is Jerry.

I personally had a BAD experience with Icing on the Cake.  I'm from outta town due to my fiance being in the military and can only do weekends.  But I'm from Shawnee and the wedding is up there. Anyways, she snapped at me "NO, i can't do weekends! i'm the only one here and my time on the weekend is precious". i then explained to her  he was in the military and she goes "well good luck finding someone" very sarcastically.  I tell you, I was ready to rip her head off telling her that there are places that are just a 1 person shop and they do make time to do weekends for their customers (ie: The Bridal Kitchen...wonderful lady who makes time for everyone!).  I've talked to a few other brides about that place and they've said negative things about her too, I should've listen to them.
