Yacht Wedding

Hello ladies!Still on the venue search...sheesh!FI liked the place we saw this past weekend but still wants to look...he doesnt want to book the first nice place he sees...Anyway, has anyone been to a yacht/boat wedding? If so, how was it?I am asking because we are considering that now...my only concern is people getting sea sick...

When my Fi and I were still dating he was invited to wedding where the reception was on a yacht. From what he told me the  boat remained docked the entire time, so no apparent sea-sickness. Are there any venues you narrowed down?I have a handy list of questions in my blog when interviewing reception venues--you probably already know alot of it already.  Maybe it will help.

I went to a boat wedding done through Electra Cruises in Newport. It was a lot of fun! None of the guests got sea sick because the boat stays in the harbor and the water wasn't choppy. It was smooth sailing. The only down fall was that a lot of people danced and the dance floor was kind of small and it got really stuffy in the boat.

Never been to a yacht wedding but as soon as I read this post I thought, Brilliant! I would love to go to a wedding on a yacht. The only two things you really need to consider is that: 1. You'll probably have limited guest space (but if you're planning on having a small wedding then that won't be a problem). 2. If the boat goes out (which I assume it will) your guests are committed for the entire time. I didn't realize how many people actually leave the reception after the cake is cut but quite a few left mine (luckily they were parents friends and such).

i went to a wedding at the Fantasea Yacht club in Marina Del Rey. It was a lot of fun. The guests all boarded the boat for the ceremony and for cocktails afterwards (the couple did pictures on the top deck, the ret of us had drinks/cocktails on the lower deck). the boat only went around the harbor, no one got sick. and then the boat docked, we all got off and went into the building for the reception. they had a really really nice room for the reception. this particular wedding was approx 110 people. and the food was AMAZING!! it was a blast! and that way, people were not stuck on the boat.

We actually have an appointment for Saturday to see Fantasea... I was told about the ceremony on the boat and then the reception on land...it will be interesting.... I believe the guy said that it would be like an 1 1/2 hour cruise or something like that... Im curious to see how it goes!

I went to a party on a yacht in Marina del Rey. The yacht held 150 people. It was fun and different. I knew someone who got a bigger ship - held 300 people - for her wedding, which was probably nicer. The food we hadn't wasn't great, but I'm not sure if it's because of the limited yacht facilities or because the hosts didn't want to spend money on better stuff. Also, the bar closed an hour before we docked. Not sure if that's a requirement or, again, a money saving technique.

My cousin got married on a boat! It was really nice. The ceremony was on an upper level (but not in the open air) and then we went downstairs for the cocktail hour and reception. It did stay in the harbor, so no one got sea sick, and it was a really big boat (I think there were about 200 guests). It was definitely a fun wedding, but you do have to make sure all your guests get there on time, since they wont be able to get on the boat after it leaves the dock.

TysWife, FantaSea is amazing!  We really wanted to change our venue to them but they didn't have the yacht wedding + club reception available on our date.  We were actually crushed - their prices are super reasonable and the people there seem so great to work with.  We are considering working with them for our RD though.  Hope your meeting goes as well as ours did!

Ive been to two weddings on a yacht. Pro's - Everything's included, they're beautiful, really cool to get married with the sunset in the background. (I really liked it, FI hated both. LOL)Cons- You're committed for the whole time of the reception, I hear they're pricey once you start the add on's., your guests have to pay for parking (which should have been included on the invitation - i never carried cash and stalled the whole line getting out behind me!) No one got sick on either boat :)

I'm getting married with FantaSea on one of their yachts! My fiancee and I love that it's pretty much a package deal. It was the 3rd venue we checked out and when we looked around the boats they took my breath away! Our planner there has been pretty nice but seemed a tad nicer before we booked... There are a bunch of add ons it seems like though. BUT it is still VERY much affordable compared to the majority of places in LA. We went for our tasting a couple weeks ago and the food was AMAZING! Good luck!
