Passport Name Change?

So I finally got around to looking it up & I found the form I have to fill out, but the website says you have to mail in the "Applicable Fees", but when I click on that link, it says fees may vary and links me back to the other page.Is there a fee to change your name on your passport? If there is how much is it?

I still have to do mine..but when I inquired about it the Post Office told me that you have to pay for a whole new one just like it was your first passport unless you just paid to  renew it or if you just purchased your 1st passport within 3 months of your name change. So if you've had your passport longer than 3 months then you need to pay for it again, take a new pic etc. I litterly just did mine 8months before we got married so they told me if I wanted to wait and get it redone when my original one expired the only thing I had to do is when I travel put everything in my maiden name. DH and I have been on 2 trips since our wedding && just planned our vacation for this year - I just use my maiden name when booking my flight/hotel any/all accomodations etc. I also carry a copy of my marriage certificate with me when traveling.

Malis, they definitely gave you the wrong info!!! It's a year, not three months. The three months comes into play for needing a new picture. I got my passport in June, and changed my name last month. Because it was over three months, I paid for the new picture and that was it--if I had gone before that I would have kept the same picture. If it is over a year that you have had your passport, I believe you have to treat it as a renewal and pay whatever that fee is.

Ugh, that reminds me I have to get mine done.I think Steph's right - if you got your passport more than a year ago, you have to pay $75 or whatever the fee is for a new passport. That was my understanding.

Yeah - unfortunately you need to renew your passport.  It requires a new photo and the $75 fee.   I did mine in March of 2008 when DH and I were married for under a year and it took just 3 weeks.
