Wedding announcement in the paper

I just got a call from the Nashua Telegraph and they accepted my wedding announcement to run in this weekend... its going to cost $40!! Plus another $5 for my home town paper???Is it just me - or is that crazy?I almost said no - but I guess I don't really have a choice...

    I just looked into it too and one of the papers wanted $150. I always thought these were free until this morning!

    My hometown paper charges around $200 depending on word count to include a photo!  I agree, it's crazy.  I refuse to pay to announce my wedding.  Anyone who needs to know was there.

    wait.. what!?!  Is this NEW?  I filled mine out on line and selected most of the papers (cause I'm AW) and wasn't charged for any of them. Check the online site before you pay.Big THUMBS DOWN!! People love reading wedding announcements, they can't charge for that!!

    Its new with The Nashua Telegraph - when I put my engagement announcement in last May it was free - they started charging a fee in July!I guess $40 doesn't sound so bad after $200!

    I did my engagement and wedding announcement in the Union Leader and there was no charge. They would have carged for the wedding announcement if it was sent after 90 days, I think. That really stinks!! I didn't think any of them charged! :(

    So I just got the proof emailed to me... and its beautiful! I dont know if the price changed how they print them... but its in script writing with scrolls on the top and bottom :)

    I didn't want to pay and really didn't have the money to have our stuff in the paper, so we had no engagement notice or wedding announcement.

    I know my mother really wants us to do this, but I bet she doesn't know that it costs that much money now.  As much as I'd like to do it, there's no way I'd give them money for that!

    Kelly:I agree it is crazy, but the most ridiculous part is that the telegraph charges 40 for a black and white photo. The hln is free and the photo was in full color. In my opinion it was not worth it to have the telegraph print it. -Erica
