So I had yesterday off, so I took the day to visit 3 cake vendors. There are 5 on the Biltmore list, but I eliminated Edda (not a fan) and Todo Dulces (not enough reviews).Ana Paz - I actually went to A.P. on Tuesday night after work during her consultation hours. I highly recommend this to anyone who is considering Ana Paz. The office is in Doral across the street from International Mall. The hours are open (no appointments), so I did have to wait about 15 minutes before I had my consultation. Meeting went well, I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she quoted me an upgrade price, which was good. The plus for Ana Paz is, she makes gluten free cakes and said she would make me a small 6" GF cake at no extra charge. For someone who won't be able to eat her own wedding cake, this is a plus. FI Tasting Review - We were given 2 flavors, the chocolate & Vanilla (w/ hint of rum). Liked the chocolate better than vanilla, but both were good. My reservation about Ana Paz is that they do production cakes, so they tend to be hit or miss. I've heard that they can sometimes be dry and taste a little old like the cake was made a week earlier. My planner has also had similiar experiences with them, either great or not good.We Take The Cake - Next I travelled to Ft Lauderdale to meet with We Take The Cake. They had a few cakes out and the work was so amazing. They had a Nemo cake that looked just like the characters. Pricing for the cake was about $50 more than Ana Paz, so not much. Unfortunately, no GF option. But even with that, they were now my 1st choice. I've only heard great things about them and because they have less volume, I feel they have better quality control. FI Tasting Review - Didn't like the Golden Butter (but he is not a vanilla fan), thought chocolate was good, but a little dry, as with the red velvet. But he did like them more than Ana Paz.Elegant Temptations - Finally, I met with Rosie. Now I am a huge fan of Rosie's work. She is so creative and I've never seen a cake of hers that I didn't like. Her upgrade price was expectedly more, but not significant. She also made some suggestions on how I could make the design my own. She was the only one of the 3 that I would relinquish creative control to and therefore that's who I am going with. FI Tasting Review - She gave me 9 samples to try. Ray didn't try the Banana & Vanilla w/pineapple and didn't like any with cappaccino filling. He loved the chocolate with godiva liquor filling and suprisingly, the vanilla rum, which will be the 2 flavors we are going with. His favorites though were the red velvet and vanilla w/guava, however there is an added fee for those, so it's chocolate & vanilla for us.
