Is it bad...

...that this Christmas talk is making me really excited for Black Friday?I always go with my mom, and when FI and I start having to divide up Thanksgivings, I'm going to be more upset about missing Black Friday with my mom, rather than Thanksgiving.Anywho, am I the only one here that gets excited about a day entirely devoted to shopping?

  • You are a brave soul! :) My MIL and SIL want me to go with them every year, and I stay back and drink beer and shake dice with the men, and they go shopping. I can't do it. I get super anxious and want to punch people.

  • My son asked me a few days ago when Thanksgiving is.  I said "We just had thanksgiving"..... He said "No, American Thanksgiving"  He asked if we could go to Seattle for thanksgiving.  Sadly it's right in  the middle of my work week, so we can't go.  It  is tempting to take a few days off, just so I can go shopping on black Friday.
  • I'd rather shoot myself in the face.This.  Or iron my pants while they're on my legs.

  • I'm generally broke on Black Friday; plus, I'd rather not go to jail that close to Christmas, so I stay home.
  • I'm depressed.  My family is big into Black Friday; we go shopping downtown in Chicago every single year and have all these traditions and it's a huge deal.  This year we're spending Thanksgiving with FI's parents only, in the middle of the country.  They are nice, but FFIL gets on my nerves and I know I'm going to miss home a lot.  And there will be no shopping because the only store is Wal-Mart.  :(

  • I love Christmas, but I can't handle black Friday. I freak out in crowds. It's best for all of humanity that I stay home that day.
  • I've been on the roads at 5am for Black Friday for the past five years, but I do have a shopping addiction.
  • Where's your sense of adventure, people?  :pBrie - Totally feel your pain.  FI and my families live far enough apart that I can't just go home for Black Friday.  And while they live in a city, I'm not sure FMIL or any of my FSILs will be the best shopping buddys.
  • Last year I attempted black friday for the first time in my life.  I went to Wal-mart at 5am to get some things for lil stack.......I left with some building blocks and my life.  I was happy with that.  Never again!
  • I'll be experiencing my first Black Friday out of the house this year with Fmil and fsil. I've always just stayed home and hid away lol
  • I love Black Friday! But there are few of us here it seems. DH's family does it every year, there are tactics and strategy involved. It's awesome. Then we go out to breakfast...that's my favorite part. Table for 18? Thanks hostess!

  • Oh, and FMIL hates shopping.  So...our Black Friday will probably be spent watching llamas out the window.

  • Black friday is awesome.  I love it.  I'm crazy, I know.  It's hard for me to find someone to go with though. Unfortunately, I don't know if we'll have any money to do BF shopping this year and I'm bummed.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • I guess I should include that I hate shopping in general.  Not just Black Friday.I get really anxious and stressed out just on a normal day at a place like TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, etc.  I know you can find great deals but I just can't handle the chaos.

  • I'm really surprised your DHs/FIs like to go.  I honestly don't know a single guy who likes to shop (which is fine for me) but I am happy you girls did!

  • I don't FI would ever go Black Friday shopping with me.  I could maybe convince him to come out and meet me after all the early bird specials, but I don't think he'd every be ready to leave at 5:00am.
  • nononononono... my SIL goes, though. I think she's certifiable on that day. Love her to pieces the other days of the year.

  • I'm INSANELY excited for Black Friday this year, because me, Heels, Sarah and Cew will be sitting around drinking vodka and eating livermush while the crazies shop. :) I gave up Black Friday shopping about 7 years ago when I saw two women get into a fist fight for the last giant Care Bear at Wal-Mart. A CARE BEAR! I wept for humanity and ran from them with my $40 DVD/VCRs. I vowed never to subject myself to that ever again.
  • Black Friday makes my skin crawl. I don't get to shop it, I get to work it. The early shift, when all of the crazies are beating on the gate 10 minutes before opening and trying to stampede my employees. Oh, and I'm the manager so I get to deal with the super special crazies that are too irritable to deal with regular associates. Plus, my store doesn't do too many great deals, just gives away a big free tote, but you would think that thing was made of pure gold the way some people react.... I used to love BF too, but now I can't wait for it to be over. Although, I will say BF shoppers are easier to deal with than Christmas Eve shoppers, but that is a whole different headache...lol.

  • I get anxiety just thinking about it. Very few things irritate me more than a crowded store. I even grocery shop after 9pm. I don't think I have ever gone out on Black Friday.
