Important songs!

Hey everyone! So, I've been thinking a lot about music, and what songs to use for the ceremony, first dance, etc. I'm so indecisive sometimes...I was just curious what everyone else is doing/did for:--bridal party processional--bridal processional--recessional--reception entrance--first dance songI thought about using that Somewhere Over the Rainbow song by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole for the processional, and I think we're doing the Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling" for the reception entrance. But I can't make any decision and don't know about! I really like Brandi  Carlile's "The Story" for a first dance song, but I think it would be hard to dance to. What about you all?

I used the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow for my bridal party processional! It was really great. :) For my processional I just used the traditional Here Comes the Bride, but it was played by an acoustic guitarist to make it more unique. Our recessional was Say Hey (I Love You) by Michael Franti. We wanted to use Crazy Train for the Bridal Party reception entrance and Another One Bites the Dust for hubby and I to enter into the reception, but due to some technical difficulties, we didn't end up having any music to enter to, which I didn't even realize until much later. Our first dance song was Into the Mystic by Van Morrison. Other songs we debated for the first dance were  Better Together by Jack Johnson, Crash by DMB, Shelter or Hold You In My Arms by Ray Lamontagne. 2 of my bridesmaids sang Lullaby by the Dixie Chicks during the ceremony which was AWESOME and so appropriate for a wedding, and I also requested that my ceremony guitarist play The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson as part of the pre-ceremony music. Hope this helps!!

Oh, I like that Say Hey song too, I thought about using that somehow. I really wanted to use Somewhere Over the Rainbow for my processional, but I'm worried it sounds kind of sad almost. And I don't think FI's a fan.JamieMarieB, I admire your laid back attitude! I hope I don't end up micro managing everything, and that I can relinquish some of the control to the people I paid to do stuff like play music.Oh, and any good suggestions for the last song? Something upbeat, or more romantic?

Bridal party processional- Canon in D Bridal processional- probably either Canon in D still or the traditional "here comes the bride" Recessional-- I like "You're My Best Friend" by Queen lol... I haven't told my Fi this yet. I'm scared of what he'll say. But I'd have it start at the part where it goes, "Oooh you make me live... Oooh you're the best friend that I ever had..." Reception Entrance-- probably "Say Hey" but I'm hoping the radio play well have lessened by next fall b/c it's on the radio all the time now. First Dance-- I like "Let's Stay Together" and Fi claims to like it, too, but every once in a while he'll ask if I've given our first dance any thought, so I'm thinking he might not be 100% with that song.

Oh yeah, and the cake cutting song was the Mario Kart Love Song (very appropriate for us!) but I don't think anyone really heard it. For the parent's dance (we did them together) we used Unforgettable. One of the songs for the Anniversary dance was Grow Old with You by Adam Sandler.

MM,I the only reason the DJ picked the songs is because by the time I realized I had forgotten to pick them it was three days before the wedding and he was calling to ask me where they were.  I said oh crap he said He would take care of it.  It was actually kind of fun to hear what he picked.  He did a wonderful job.  I would recommend him.  So funny people who came to the wedding have been calling me for his number because they want him for a retirement party, and anni party, weddings.    The funny thing is he doesn't advertise and just goes on word of month.  He books six months out now.

Last song suggestions: Let's Get it On by Marvin Gaye or Goodnight Sweetheart by the Spaniels. My dj actually played our first dance song again and asked everyone to join us on the dance floor this time around. I think the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow is very happy and wedding appropriate. I actually know quite a few people who have incorporated it in some way. An 07 knottie used it for one of her processionals and DH's cousin used it for his first dance song at his wedding back in 05. It's really very fitting.
