re: rehearsal dinner

I was wondering about rehearsal dinner invitations.  Anyone not sending out formal invites to the dinner?  Just word of mouth?  Trying to save some money when I can, but I don't want to be totally informal and "cheap-looking".

We sent emails, using email "stationary" and it worked out really, really well.  I blogged about it here: http://stefaniek.blogspot.com/2008/08/invites-to-other-stuff.html

I included a separate enclosure with our invitations to those that were invited to the RD. It wasn't that expensive because I only needed about 20 of them and I just tucked them in with my invite so I saved a stamp!

We did them because it was a fun crafty project to do with my FMIL.  If it weren't for that we probably would have just included an enclosure in the invitations.  Unless you're having a formal rehearsal dinner I think you could get away with phone calls or invitations enclosures.
