INVITES

Hey all. I am new to the boards. What is considered a resonable price for invitations? I am inviting b/w 250-275. I have no idea what that should cost. Any response would be helpful :)

The cost of invitations really vary so, so much.  To me, they weren't very important and  so we went with the very traditional, white invitation.  They were Carlson Craft, and believe it or not we ordered them from Party City, which saved us 30% off of each piece (inviation, response card, envelopes, etc.).  I'd definitely recommend heading over there to look through the books.  I can't remember if we wound up ordering 100 0r 125 invitations, but we spent less than $250.  That being said, some girls spends thousands on their invitations and choose more elaborate, custom designs.

it does vary alot, depending on the quality of paper, whether you use digital printing, letterpress, thermography or engraving, and what kind of design. We are going to prob wind up spending 3,000 for a crane and co thermographed invitation, we are also inviting like 270.

i suggest you make a couple of appointments at invitation places and go and see what they have. search on line too-it's a very helpful tool for price comparison. you'll find the average prices for what you're looking for and that will determine your budget (or vice versa). the only way you'll find out what they should cost is research.

It definitely varies. My invites are about a dollar apiece. They are the Brides kits from Michael's. Originally they were $40 for 30, but we used the weekly 40% off coupons for them and they came out to $26. I bought some glitter and flocking powder (apparently they have that, Thanks Martha Stewart) and some rhinestones to jazz 'em up a bit and we're good to go! I'm printing them myself on my home printer.

My fiance and I decided that we cared least about invitations. We got print-your-own invitations from Target and it ended up costing us $64 for coordinating save the dates (with envelopes), invitations, and response cards (with envelopes for both). We purchased and printed 100 invitations. They were super easy to set up and I think they look great.

Ditto everyone else here.  Figure out what type of look/feel you want for your wedding (black tie, semi-formal, etc.), whether or not the invitation look really matters to you, and how much you are willing to spend.  This will certainly narrow down a few choices.  As an fyi, Costco has pretty nice invites at good prices - if you aren't a member, $50 is well worth it. I personally didn't find anything I liked and when I inquired for minor custom work, it wasn't worth it.  My fiance and I designed the invite, I'm going to order the pockets and paper online, get them printed and put them together myself.  Even though it's some work on my part, they will truly be my invitations and at the cost I wouldn't be able to find anywhere for what I wanted.  GL.
