Wedding Party

Best Man - Can there be 2?

My FI has two really close friends and he can't choose between the two who he would want as his Best Man.  He may not have any other guys as groomsman (or he might have one or two more as groomsman).  Can he have two Best Men?  Even if I'm only having one MOH?  If he has two Best Men, is it ok if there are no other guys in the WP?  Even if I am going to have 4, 5, or 6 girls on my side?  I know we can do whatever we want because it's our wedding party, but I'd like to hear some opinions or hear if this has happened to you or if you've seen it in weddings before, etc etc etc!

  • Uneven sides are fine! And so are co-BM.  DH was one in September!
  • So... Stage has the brain today.  Re-read her answer and pretend it's mine.

  • At my cousins wedding there were two best men and one MOH. They both escorted her into the reception and she loved having 2 hot men on her arms. I don't think it would look strange if you have 6 girls and he only has 2 guys. It is definitely ok to have two best men and no other groomsmen, especially since you FI is super close to both.

  • It's fine to have two Best Men. It's fine to have no other groomsmen. It's fine to have one Maid of Honor. It's fine to have more bridesmaids than he has groomsmen/Best Men. Seriously, nobody cares (not in a bad way ... people are there to see you get married and then celebrate afterward, not count heads). Do what YOU guys want.

  • Of course they can both be BM! Why would that be "forbidden"? We had uneven sides. Skies didn't fall. Don't even notice the asymmetry in our photos.

  • I attended a wedding where he had two BeM and no GM, and she had 1 MOH and 2 BrM.  It was fine.  One BeM walked with the MOH, the second walked with a BrM, and the last BrM walked alone.(Adding in the extra letters because I thought it read confusing with the double meaning of BM in this context.)

  • It will all be cool.  As long as you have the people you care about most in the world up there with you, it doesn't matter if they match, or have titles or whatever.
  • WPs are not about symmetry. They are about having those you care most about stand with you on your wedding day. You're overthinking this. Have 2 best men. Have 6 BM. No one will faint and your wedding will not be invalidated by the wedding police.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • I'm with Stage. The "honor" sort of become diluted if everyone has it. I'd lean towards simple rather than over kill - 2-3 GMs on his side, 1 MOH and some BMs (however many you want) on your side.
