Gifts

How do gifts usually work? Do you get the bride something from her registry at the bridal shower, and then bring money to the reception?

I have nooo idea. My mum was ranting about his the other day. In Spanish and really loudly, too. I think only you'd appreciate a funny rant like that lol.

Yup that's exactly how I do it - gift for shower, money for wedding! :)

Jen, I can just imagine. LOL! Court, so if you're coming in from OOT, do you ship the shower gift to the bride in advance?  Or bring it with you?

Alissa and Aim, do you guys bring the gift to the shower or send it to the bride's house?

If I have a shower out of town, I'll send the gift to the person's house but I'll print a picture of it and put it in a card (unless it's small!) - HTH!

I always bring my gift HOWEVER I received a lot of gifts before my shower sent to my house and it was fun to get the mail and have fun gifts waiting for me :) I think if you are flying in from out of town, shipping it is 100% ok.

I usually do the same too.  Someone told me recently that if a guest doesn't come to your wedding, they should send a gift anyways?  I don't think I've ever not gone to a wedding, so I don't know how that works.

I def. agree with PP's. I do a gift for registry and $ for wedding. I usually bring my gifts, but you can always ship. any word on the cake thing, did you find someone?

Lacey, well I've emailed a few people but I'm waiting for responses. If I don't finalize something by say 4pm, I'm going to call publix and place my order.

Yeah, this is so confusing! I'm the first of my friends to get married (well, second, but first with a big wedding) and I have no idea about the etiquette! One of my friends goes to a wedding just about every week, and when I first got engaged she told me: "Gift for the engagement party, gift for the bridal shower, gift/cash for the wedding" and I was like whoa thats a lot of gifts! We didn't even have an e-party so it's probably more reasonable. Hopefully when my friends start to get engaged and married they space it out a little so my bank account isn't depleted LOL
