shoe height

I absolutely love these shoes

 http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Satin-Peep-Toe-Platform-High-Heel-with-Bow-Maribelle_Accessories-Shoes-Peep-Toe

but I hardly ever wear heels.  I'm getting married on a cruise ship... will I be okay with a 4 inch heel?  I'm 5'3" and FI is 5'11" so the height thing isn't really an issue.

Thanks!

Re: shoe height

  • Since they have a 1 inch platform, it's like wearing a 3 inch heel.  I think you'll be ok.

  • I really never wear anything higher than a 1 1/2'' kitten heel, and I wouldn't do it, but I'm taller than you and never had the desire to wear heels, although there are certainly some cute ones.  If you want to go for it, I would buy them and practice walking in them and wear them around the house to make sure that they're comfortable enough and so you can get used to them.
  • If you hardly ever wear heels, I would try them on and wear them around the store a bit. You don't want your feet to kill you after an hour.
  • I disagree that the platform makes a difference...when I wear shoes with a platform, it's still high.  Agree with pp to try them on in the store and walk around in them.  You could always get them for your ceremony and get coordinating flip flops or ballet flats for the reception.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I tried them on and wore them around for awhile, they seem super comfy.  Could hardly tell they were heels (except I was way too tall..awesome!)

I like the idea of flipflops/flats to change into, but how would that work?  Would the dress need to be hemmed shorter or is it okay for it to drag?
  • I have worn 4" heels on a cruise ship before while drinking and was fine.

The ceremony probably won't be terribly long so you should be okay.

  • Jelous! :( Oh to be young again and wear these kind of heels! Something happened when I past 45 : ( Like if I was to wear them I would fall break a hip, break my ankle, or get stuck between 2 bricks on a brick decorated road while try to cross when I wasn't suposed to while trafic was coming!! LOL My wish is to be 25 again, wear shoes like yours , be so damn so damn flirty and  dancing to this song!! http://youtu.be/0dkYxwRVXZ0
So I say wear 'em and have fun if you like them!! :)

  • I'm not sure what your job is but I found some similar shoes (but less expensive) to what I wanted and started wearing them to work (I work in an office so high heels are totally appropriate -- I just made sure they were closed toe). Then started wearing them to work. If you can't walk around work for a few days then you probably won't be able to last on a boat in them. If heels aren't appropriate for work find some place that is (going out to dinner, dancing with friends, etc) and start walking around. This way you figure out if you can walk in those type heels and get more comfortable with it and you don't ruin your new shoes. I agree about wearing the actual shoes around the house to break them in.

Also, my sister got married on a cruise and she ended up taking pictures for a long time walking from one side of the boat to the other. The pictures turned out great but she did a lot of walking in the middle.
  • They are super cute, but your feet will be killing you after an hour.  The problem with super high heels like that is that you will have your dress hemmed to that height, but if you take the shoes off, you'll be stepping all over your dress.  So it's really up to you, are you going to kill your feet all night so you don't step on your dress, or are you going to take them off and let your dress drag/get stepped on?

  • My sister got these and said they are comfortable. She never wears heels, and rarely wears anything but flip-flops.
