WWYD?

I sold 4 lanterns to a woman on the trash to treasure board. She paid $40 total. $20 for all the lanterns and $20 for shipping (It was actually $22, but I ate the $2 plus cost for all shipping supplies. I made $15 tops)I wrapped them in bubble wrap, packed them in the box tightly, and marked the box fragile. One of the lanterns arrived to her broken. She emailed me today and asked me how I would like to handle this? Um, I don't want to handle this.WWYD? Should I be nice and refund her the $5? She was kind of a PITA to deal with and I don't really feel it was my responsibility to make sure they arrived safely. She could have damaged them when she got them... Who knows? Suggestions?

Re: WWYD?

  • Was the package insured? It sounds like other than that you did what you needed to to make sure they arrived safe, was the box damaged?Howd it go with your ghost??
  • I would ask her what she wanted.  Then offer her something based on that.

  • did she send you photos to "prove" one was damaged?
  • We're still hearing stuff we can't explain. My mom came over yesterday during the day and we were sitting in my basement. The door at the top of the steps opened again. It does this A LOT now. She was pretty freaked out. We really can't figure out why this is happening all of a sudden, but neither one of us feel threatened. It's creepy though. We'll see how it plays out.
  • I told my husband about your ghost stuff, he says it sounds like an animal in your walls (I dont know how that would work though) for the squeel and walking sounds, and you hearing stuff in the garage. I dont know how the door opening could be explained. Are you still getting bad dreams?
  • Nope. No photos. I could start with asking her what she wants, but I'm assuming it's money.
  • i would ask for photos of the damage.  if 1 really broke, then you can contemplate whether or not to reimburse her.  but if she's just making it up to try and get some $ out of you then maybe she'll leave you alone.  I mean, it's not like she'd damage one herself for $5, you know?
  • Well, we have a drop ceiling in our basement and H was up in there checking for animal droppings and other signs. He didn't find anything. Our house is pretty simple. There really aren't a lot of places for an animal to hide. He was up in the crawl space in our attic, also. We should probably have our exterminator check the next time they come out, but again, doesn't explain the door which is happening at least once day now. I haven't been sleeping all that well. Neither one of us have been. We've just been sitting up listening to the noises in our garage, getting up to go see what it is and finding nothing lol I will be ecstatic if we can find a family of squirrels living in there!
  • Maybe have her mail the broken lantern back to you and then you will refund her for that lantern? Treat it as a ebay type thing I would think.
  • Tell her to suck it up or you'll sick your ghost on her ;) Seriously, that's some weird shizzle happening at your house.
  • She sounds like a pain; it'd probably be more trouble to refund her the $5 than its worth, but at least that'll get her out of your hair. I agree with julez... sic the ghosts on her.
