registering-number and where?

I'm curious how many places did anyone register at and where? I started setting up my registry today because some family members what to buy stuff for Christmas off of it. I was originally only going to go with Macy's and Crate & Barrel. I thought I would end up getting a lot at Macy's but I didn't see much that I liked. I'm not a fan of BBB so I didn't want to register at it but now I'm thinking I should. What I really like about Macy's is the reward program. Maybe the Macy's I went to wasn't a good choice.

We are just doing BBB. I like macys as well, but I wanted a good range of price points and we didn't need china.

We registered at BBB and Macy's. Originally I thought we'd have most of our stuff on Macy's but it's the opposite. I never realized how awesome BBB can be... plus they have LOTS of the same stuff at both stores, and BBB is cheaper. At Macy's, we have the higher end stuff that we didn't want to skimp on like towels, bath ensembles and stemware. BBB we have pretty much everything else. We didn't register for china (instead registering for really nice everyday stuff), because I'd rather get the other stuff on our registry than have people buying us expensive china. Plus, I'm a total bargain shopper and I know when Macy's has AMAZING sales, we might be able to get china on our own. My bff got married 5 weeks ago and had a 12 piece place setting for Lenox china. A few months back when I was stalking her registry, there was a sale going on- the place settings were half off, and if you buy 3 you get the 4th free... so essentially someone would only have to buy her 9 place settings at half off. I'm hoping after the wedding FI and I will be able to get a deal like that and buy the china on our own. That's the good thing about Macy's- their sales. BBB stuff never goes on sale but they do have the coupons :)

I did BB&B and Kohls. I was going to do Macys (and actually wound up with a mini registry there because despite not sending out registry cards, random guests went to Macys anyway and looked me up), but I really didn't like it. Almost everything I liked at Macys I found cheaper at BB&B- especially when you factor in how many people use 20% off coupons.

Thanks everyone! If I can't find more stuff at Macy's then I'll give BBB a try. I thought having 3 would be too much but I wouldn't be the only one.

I think Macy's program just can't be beat. You get 5% of registry purchases and 10% of personal purchases back on a gift card--it adds up! (You need to have or open a CC with them though.) Plus the completion discount every place has.

i would never open up a new store cc.  they are the worst rates ever, and the discounts are not very good.  you'd do better with holiday sales.

Allie- I don't think you understand. If you have a Macys card then you get back in the form of GC either 5 or 10% of what everyone spent on you plus all of your own purchases. I always use my Macys credit card. I pay it off every month (so I don't really care what the interest rate is), but there are a lot of sales and coupons that are exclusive to card holders.

It's not for the discounts, it's to get actual $$ back (on a gift card) from purchases OTHER people make off your registry. If you get $3000 worth of stuff from your registry, you get $150. It's totally worth it for that alone. If you happen to buy stuff at Macy's on your own, you can use the card and get 10% more back on that gift card. I pay my CC bills in full every month, so it doesn't really bother me what the interest rates are.
