what's your one unique thing?

Sometimes when I'm reading online or looking through magazines, it seems like everything you could possibly do at a wedding has been done. But I think everyone wants to make their wedding special and unique, and have something that reflects them as a couple. So, what's your unique idea, something you think is special to you and your fiance? (It doesn't have to be just one, if you can't narrow it down!).FI and I are making our own strawberry wine to have as table favors. We picked 13 pounds of strawberries this summer, made the wine and tonight we are bottling it! We are going to put cute labels on with a picture of chocolate covered strawberries decorated like a bride and groom. Each table will have a bottle, and one lucky person will get to take it home. We haven't figured out yet how that person will be chosen, but maybe we'll have a sticker on the bottom of their plate or some kind of cute little trivia contest, and whoever gets the most right, wins. We've also taken pictures through the whole process, and we'll set up an online album so people can see how the wine was made.Share your unique ideas!

Mine was not that exciting, but my mother's family has an heirloom prayerbook that's been in our family since the 1840s.  For generations, the women in my mom's family have carried this prayerbook down the aisle with them.  To be a little different, I had my bouquet attached to it, so the flowers went up the book and cascaded over the end.  I was the 8th generational bride to carry that book.Other than that, though, we didn't do much that was unique.

I'm totally lame and steal ideas from everyone. like I am going to put peoples names on sea stones rather than cards for the seating. but I am stealing that from mag. I'm wearing my best friends veil?

his last name is Foster, and we're both beer lovers, so instead of toasting with champagne, we're giving everyone a Foster's beer can to toast with. Kind of cheesy but we like it.

Ours I guess is the music... while people are sitting down and waiting for the ceremony to begin we're playing string music of like Journey, Queen, and AC/DC (think Adam Sandler's wedding in The Wedding Singer-- but I'll actually show up) Sounds really cheesey, but it's basically the music we know wouldn't go over too big (for the most part) at the reception. Too many old people on my Fi's father's side.

Our food. We're roasting a pig for FI & I am having either homade mac n cheese or alfredo because I dont eat meat & Im a pastaholic. & then we will have sides to go with both of our choices. We're doing all of our food ourselves. Its a totally hick thing to do but I guess thats who we are, a plated fancy meal just isnt us & our families & friends know that. We want our whole wedding & reception to be laid back & fun & I think our menu is going to reflect that. =)

We did a few things... first, our venue was on a lake that I have spent so much time at/on/around in my life, and my parents actually lived at the lodge we got married at for a summer one year before I was born, so that was significant and special for us. Second, we wrote our own vows. This is the one thing I think that made the wedding the most personal for us. We got SO MANY compliments on our vows and how special and touching they were. Third, my aunt made a video slideshow of pictures of my husband and I through the years that they showed during the reception. It was really special.

I love the wine idea! We thought of also giving homemade wine as a favor...my dad makes amazing wine!  But then two of our friends have already done it...wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't in the same circle of friends.  If your unsure of how to choose who goes home with it you could always open the bottle for them to enjoy with their meal (if there's enough to go around in a table).  At one of the weddings this was done at, the parents of the groom (who made the wine) used it as a time to go around and mingle; the father brought his bottle opener and went around opening the bottles on all the tables.  This could be difficult depending on large your wedding is, but you could always ask the caterers if that is something they could help with!As for our own unique ideas...they're still in the making.  I feel as though any good idea has already been done...so we'll see.

Love all the ideas! Mainemommy, a pig roast and mac & cheese? Sounds like my kind of event! Are you doing pot luck and having people bring stuff, or are you and your FI or fam doing all the food?

we are doing a handfasting ceremony instead of a unity candle, thats when our hands are tied together. the cord thats used will be braided by my fiance and I. Another thing I'm doing is instead of my flower girl throwing petals Im going to have her throw dried lavender buds.
