Yeah the Homecoming things are called mums. FI is from TX and they did them at his high school...I called them tacky and he got sensitive about it. "Tradition," he said.

We called the ones the girls are wearing mums, but the guy ones were called garters. At my school, the guys rarely wore the garters, but pretty much every girl wore a mum. They are loud, and completely annoying - yet I still have mine hanging in the closet at my mom's house.

Those blue thing? Yeah, my high school had those. Big yellow mums the size of sunflowers, black and gold ribbons, bells, cheerleader horns, footballs, roses. Heavy as shiit. I can't actually remember how they stayed on my shirt.

I have never heard of such a thing! One of the websites I saw when I found that pic said that the size of the mum/garter/thing given to a girl indicates how much her date likes her. Is that for real?

It's this kind of thing that teaches a girl that if the diamond in the e-ring is small, he must not be that into you. :-P I'm weirdly fascinated with this whole Homecoming garter thing. I've never heard of such a thing! We just did wrist corsages for the girls and boutonnieres for the guys, the same as at proms. Can any of them be considered "pretty" or was big and gawdy the look they're going for?
