Re: BM dress problems...

• Ditto PP.  I'd ask them their budget.  From there, look for designers within the budget and pick a fabric swatch and tell them to have fun.
• David's Bridal offers lots of styles in the same color/fabric/length. That's probably the best way to go. Look at other knottie bios--you'll see that people use multiple styles all the time. You won't be distracted by multiple styles, you'll instead see very pretty ladies standing up next to you in styles that flatter them :)

• I know a lot of people in real life, and on the Knot, who just picked a designer*, a fabric, a color and a skirt length, and let each BM choose her own style from those specifications. Or the bride picked maybe 3 similar styles from the same designer, and let her BMs pick which one of those that she wanted. A friend of mine chose satin Alfred Angelo separates in a wine color, with floor-length A-line skirts, and let each BM choose her own top. Another friend who was a BM said that they all liked having this option. The pics were really nice, because they all looked coordinated but everyone was in a comfortable, flattering top. * Before you choose the designer, consult each BM in private and ask what her dress budget is. Then look for designers in the price range that they can all afford, or kick in some cash yourself to help them out if you want a pricier designer. Also, before you decide on a color and a length, let them try a few things on. Every color and every length won't flatter every woman ... some colors can wash certain skintones out, and some lengths might make BMs look dumpy.

• I just told them black with some sort of silver accent.  Length, fabric, designer, don't care.  They get to be comfortable, happy, and within their chosen budget, and I have one less thing to worry about.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
• bari jay dresses are awesome!
• I was in the same situation, I have 6 BMs and they are so different in shapes and sizes so I asked the saleswoman in the dress store what she recommended and she showed me a dress that's very flattering on anybody. And my BMs have all said they love it and it's slimming and comfortable. This is the link, it also shows the colors it comes in and there's a lot of them.http://www.jordanfashions.com/ShowDressDetail.aspx?collectionid=1&dressid=372&photoid=7418
