NWR: Veterans Day

I want to say thank you to all our armed forces personnel, both past and present, for fighting for our freedom. I especially want to thank my father and two of my brothers for their service in the Navy and my FFIL for his service in the Air Force.

I am a day late, but ditto on that!  I do not have any service men/women in my family, but my prayers are with all who do serve.

Hello Jodi!  Things are going well.  The most important thing is I found my dress.  It is a little non-traditional w/the color... but nowadays, a bride can wear whatever she feels beautiful in. And that is exactly how I felt in it. AND the pictures on the beach will be amazing!! Trust me, I will NOT blend in w/the sand. :)   We will look for dresses for my Mom and everyone else (my FI's daughters will be "standing up" for him --- as the best man-women) after the holidays. I have a question for you.  WHEN should we order cake and flowers??  My fiance says we have plenty of time; I on the other hand, want to get as much taken care of NOW so we (I mean I) won't be stressing too much in April & May.  Any adivce??? :)  Did you ever sell your beautiful dress???

Cathy: I'm glad you have a dress, what color is it? Yes, after listing it on Ebay 5 or 6 times (I lost count), a woman in Oregon bought it for her sister with Down Syndrome who's getting married. I ended up selling it for $75 less than I paid for it, but at least I finally got rid of it and now I have "The One-and-Only Dress!" It probably wouldn't hurt to start talking to florists now and select the one you're most comfortable with who seems to understand your vision for your flowers. I'm on a tight budget, so I already purchased and received a 21-piece silk flower bridal bouquet package which includes bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres for everyone involved in the wedding party! As for the centerpieces, I'll probably have my creative Aunt Ethel help me DIY them using real flowers. As for the cake, it's included in my catering package, so I'll probably meet with or call the caterer about 3 months before the date to specify how I want it decorated. Hope this helps. Jody

Jody, Yes, I agree w/you on the flowers. I am hoping to work on that within the next month.Hhmmm...the color is..... (drum role, please)... saphire blue!!  Yes.. blue!  I told you it was non-traditional! :)  But.. it will definately match my eyes... and the ocean! lol  I soo loved the dress, but trust me, I was having 2nd thoughts about the color, and I was going using my Mom's reaction as the deciding factor.  My Mom was not w/me when I bought it...she saw it 2 days later.  Well, my Mom loved it!  She said the dress was made for me..and I looked beautiful.  Now, I just have to look at something w/a little bling for my hair, and might go w/a (little) casading bridal bouquet.  I, like you, am also on a budget, and the dress actually was more than I wanted to pay, but I really do love it. So... basically, we need to save a few more pennies.  I do not know what we are going to do for a honeymoon (money-wise). But as my FI tells me... "it always works out".  He is right, but that doesn't mean it's not stressful in the meantime.

Thanks, Cathy.  Believe me, if it had fit, it was going to be "The One," but, unfortunately, I couldn't even zip it up.That's ironic that you chose a sapphire blue dress:  I'm having my bridesmaids wear royal blue dresses.  My colors are going to be royal blue, silver, and white.  My silk flower bouquets are even in those colors.

Jody, YOur colors sound gorgeous! :-)   My girls will start looking in January...and since they are all different body types, I told them to buy whatever looks best on them.  As for colors, hhmm maybe a light blue, periwinkle, or fushia. But, the girls will look gorgeous in any color really, so we'll just have to look. My flowers, I'm thinking of the colors white & blue; I might have the girls just carry one long stemed flower ... maybe a white calilily. I will really just have to start looking on webesites of my florists I have in mind, and get my butt there to visit in person. lol

If you want to use silk, pre-made bridal bouquets, let me know, I can recommend the Ebay seller I used.  I bought at 21-piece package for $150 + $20 shipping (but I got lucky at the time and had a $20 Ebay coupon).
