Centerpiece Flower Color Advice Please!

Hey Ladies! I'm seeking some much needed advice. Our wedding is going be black and white damask with dark purple as an accent color. I'm not sure what color flower to have for the centerpieces. I really want purple..but purple flowers are not easy to find and the florist said that they are more expensive since they have to dye them. So...should I have white roses instead? How should I incorporate purple into the centerpiece if the flowers are not purple? Thank you for your help!!

Re: Centerpiece Flower Color Advice Please!

  • You could do white flowers with a purple ribbon around the vase. Or do purple runners on the tables.  Or use purple beads in the bottom of the vase :)
  • We are having a black and white with red accents (using some damask as well) I don't want a bunch of red roses everywhere since it's going to be an accent color so I'm doing white roses with a few red ones in the mix. When is your wedding? Can you do something like this as an accent (click here) ? Add those in with some white roses (if your set on roses) and I think you can pull it off. They have a wedding in a box if you want to DIY (click here).

    HTH and Good luck!

  • Our color scheme is different but with that said my florist will airbrush the flowers herself at no charge if need be.  That may be something to ask your florist to do.

We have hydrangea, dahlia, and orchids or our flowers.  The orchids are the pop of purple in our bouquets at $4 a stem.  And we'll use them on our sweetheart table as well as the piano outside of our room.

You could use submerged purple orchids in 3 sized cylinder vases or

I love the look of a tall vase with full white flowers and a few stems of orchids in the center.  I'll try to find a picture.
  • Great Ideas! Thank you so much! I didn't even think of some of those things..not as creative as I like to think that I am. :)

  • What about white flowers with small amounts of purple tulips or Lisianthus. That should not be too expensive and you really only want a pop of color.  I love the purple beads in the bottom of the vases and if you don't need real flowers, see the wedding classified pages of the knot, another knottie is selling her pre-made centerpieces that are awesome.
  • you can se purple lisianthud, calla lilies , carnations, lilies, iris, dahlias... who says they need to be dyed?

Use white roses or hydrangea and intersperse a few purples ...
  • What about hydrangeas?  They come in purple, and they're lush so they'd fill in a low vase very nicely.
  • Look into purple dahlias.  They are a summer flower and I see your wedding is in late Sept., so I'm not sure if they will be abundant then.  However, there are lots of naturally purple flowers, so maybe you should talk to other florists.
