Invitations

I could really use some advice on these! I'm trying to get a better idea of what I should budget. Please share how much you've spent or are planning to spend. Also, if you want to share who's doing them or where you bought materials from, that would be great!

I went to Event Depot spent 230.00 on 50! However it was the best deal I could find. I also got the RSVP cards and printed return address. Invitations are crazy!! You have to keep postage in mind over 2 oz then you have to buy the 61 cent wedding cake stamps. If they have ribbons on them then they charge a little over 2.oo dollars for postage...so whatever you decide just remember your going to have extra cost because of postage. I spent 35.00 just get get out 36 invites and return cards.

I haven't decided yet and it is driving me nuts. I went to an awesome letter press this couple runs in Williamston but they were way more than I wanted to spend...about $6.50+ but beautiful!!! I have been looking on etsy and may try to find some local people around Dallas....I guess it is like everythig for your wedding some people see it worth the money...I don't so much so trying to find something nice I don't have to DIY but around $2-3/invite. Good luck!

I did mine myself with a damask invitation kit from Michaels.  I think I paid about $70 for 100 invites and used coupons to buy my kits.  They took a little bit of time, about 10 man hours.  But, I had all my bridesmaids over and we stuffed envelopes for about 3 hours and got it all done.

I am doing pocketfold invites, and am doing them myself.  With postage included mine will be about $250 for 100 (thats the pocketfold, matte for invite, invite, three cards for map & directions, reception, and things to do, plus a reply postcard).  I bought some of my supplies off of cardsandpockets.com, and I can't think of the other website right now.

Allison Thompson Designs did my invitations.  She is extremely talented.  She gave me quite a few mock invitations for ideas after I met with her to talk about my wedding.  You can tell her your budget and she will give quite a few options in your price range.  She also did the invitations for the shower and bachelorette parties my sisters threw for me.  They were all great.

We found the same Wilson invitations that were at Michaels on ebay and were able to get 150 for $39.99. We are going to run them our selves on FI's printer. We are really strapped for $$ and this was one way to save a lot.

I went to that place in Willamston...they were about 25 dollars more than what we ended up spending.

We are using the chocolate brown Bride invitation kit from Michael's.  We paid approximately $60 for 90 invitations (using a 50% off coupon).

Marshalls in East Lansing has had Brides invite kits for $15. Good luck! They didn't have my design so I got Michaels ones with half off coupons. I'm going to have them printed professionally.

I do a lot of scrapbooking so I'm doing my own invitations. I'm expecting them to cost me somewhere between $200 and $300... partly because I have to take them in to be printed (I'm using textured cardstock so I need to use a special printer). But it is really easy and I would bet that you could make them yourself. Especially if you aren't happy with the quality of the invitations that come in kits ( I know I wasn't).
