He's Catholic, I'm......not. Officiant suggestions?

Ok, so...he was raised Catholic, and still occasionally attends church. I was not raised with a faith at all, and do not hold the same beliefs. I am ok with the ceremony including the themes about love, respect, honor, etc connected to the Bible (to make him feel comfortable) but DO NOT want to be preached at or made to feel guilty for not following their beliefs at my wedding. I NEED HELP! Any suggestions??

You should consider posting this on the Catholic board - you'll probably get a lot more input there. How does your FI feel about this?  Does he want to get married in a Catholic Church?  What about his family?  And yours?  Are they influencing your decision?  Have you discussed what role religion will play in your marriage? If I were in your position, I would have to think LONG and HARD before even considering getting married in the church, given that you do not hold the beliefs.  Getting married within the Catholic Church is about more than just your wedding day - there are promises made by the couple about raising your children in the church, supporting one another in practicing the religion, etc.  If - as a couple - you do not plan to do these things, it is deceptive to be married in the church (IMO).I hope this helps.

I was also raised Catholic and my husband, although spiritual, did not have much religion in his up bringing. Together we decided that we would have a non-denominational officiant (revlucinda.com) and then with her, we put together a ceremony that was more spiritual in nature than religious. I agree with the other post in thinking long and hard about getting married in the Catholic church because there are requirements to do so. Good luck!
