Vendor Reviews 9.5.09

Thought I'd throw my reviews out there for anyone interested:Dress: Bridal Traditions: A+I received excellent service here. Dress came in early, the staff all put up with me asking a billion questions and trying my dress on multiple times and they steamed it just beautifully before my wedding day. They also dyed my shoes for me. I don't have a single complaint about them at all.Alterations: Susan Forman for Bridal Traditions: ASusan was very friendly and thorough, though I'm pretty sure she was more expensive than Linda Lee and other recommendations. I paid $175 but I had her do a double french bustle with about 8 points I think. (I had a huge train on my dress--Maggie Sottero Coco). On the plus side, she color coded and numbered every loop very thoroughly so my bridesmaids got me bustled in no time.Jewelry: www.Everything-Angelic.com: A+I love this company. I worked with Chrissy who customized a necklace, earrings and bracelet for me, and I also purchased hair pins. Everything was pearl and crystal and just beautiful. I love that you can browse the website and if you see something similar to what you like but it's not quite right, you just call or email and describe what you want and they make it for you. And they will expedite and ship your order at no extra charge if you're in a time crunch. I was beyond impressed with them and Chrissy was fantastic at getting everything just how I wanted it.Hair and Makeup: The Hair Market: A+The Hair Market was ready for me and my five bridesmaids as soon as we got there.  The girls who chose to have their makeup done looked fantastic and not overdone at all.  Everyone's hair held up really well.  I had Hilda do my hair and makeup and she did an INCREDIBLE job.  My half-up do and curls lasted all day and all night.  People kept telling me they couldn't believe my hairstyle stayed in place that long.  It was exactly what I wanted.  My makeup held up really well too.  I wasn't sure about the shimmery bridal eyeshadow at first but I got lots of compliments and was very happy with it once I saw photos.Ceremony: Magnolia Hotel (ceremony only): AI love the Magnolia. Our courtyard ceremony was executed extremely well by a very efficient team, but I found the personality of the wedding coordinator quite overwhelming. She was very sweet on the phone and via email, but in person I found her rather harsh and my wedding party thought she was rude. I'm not sure if this is just because she was just so focused on the job at hand or what, but I'm not happy that she upset some of my bridesmaids so much, as well as my officiant. However, in the end, we had a GORGEOUS ceremony and she is responsible for it going well so I can't complain too much. Also, we had some issues getting our room ready on time, but we were very happy with it in the end. My groom had to do some arguing though and had some unneeded stress an hour and a half before the ceremony. We had an awesome loft suite though and were impressed with the champagne and chocolate covered strawberries they left for us when we returned that night. And our bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!Reception: Champions Run A+If you're not a member here, you have to have a member sponsor you to have your reception at Champions as we did, but if you know someone willing to do so, I HIGHLY recommend them. The wedding coordinator is fantastic and the service is very thorough. Our reception was in the Pavillion and it was gorgeous. We had a huge dance floor.DJ: Complete Music, James Cloyd: A+++++++++++++I cannot say enough great things about James. He was so congenial, so friendly, so professional and so thorough. He is absolutely the best and I will heartily recommend him to ANYONE. He was amazing. He was great at reading the crowd and deciding how best to get our guests on the dance floor. He also took photos for us from "the DJ's perspective." Loved him. He handled a slideshow snafu very well too.Videographer: Complete Video A-I haven't seen our video yet and evidently it takes 8 weeks to put the entire thing together. We had two videographers at our ceremony and one at the Reception and they got ALL the footage, did guest interviews, interviewed us before the ceremony, etc. Seemed very thorough so I'm hoping the video is awesome and hopefully I'll be able to change my review to A+. The reason I gave the minus is because Complete gave the wrong slideshow DVD to our DJ. (Wasn't the DJ's fault whatsoever.) The DJ and wedding coordinator had to scramble to show our guests the uploaded one that Complete had sent me, but it didn't have the changes I had requested for the final output. THe guests didn't know that though and we still received compliments on it even though it delayed dinner.Flowers and Decorations get an A+ and were all done by a friend of my mother. Her business is called K. Creative Hands and she did everything, the bouquets, corsages, bouts, floral arrangements, centerpieces, table linens, swags, etc. This was all for one set price. I recommend her if you are looking for someone to do the whole enchilada for you. I can provide contact information if anyone is interested.

Lindsay, I'm indeed wearing Coco but it's in diamond white. Here's a better shot of it:http://tinyurl.com/lormruI don't have pro pics yet but there are a ton my friends have posted on Facebook so far. Let me know if you'd like to see some. The underside of that long train definitely got dirty walking through the Old Market, etc, but it bustled nicely and the dress held up great all night. Amazingly, I didn't even slip out of the bust. (I did use Hollywood Fashion Tape to help reduce that possibility though, even as tight as it was laced up!)

I sent a message to both of you.And I forgot to add, our tuxes were from Gentleman's Choice.  They get an A-.  I believe all our guys picked them up from the 72nd and Dodge location.  They looked really nice on the groomsmen, dads and ring bearer (especially the "Ferrari Red" ties), but my groom's pants had NO hem in them! Ridiculous. Fortunately he stayed at my parents' house the night before the wedding and my mom was kind enough to hem them for him!  As far as I know though, there were no other issues with the tuxes.   Also, their "ivory" is very close to diamond white, so if you have a diamond white dress, it'll look perfect!  I can post a few pics if anyone wants to see how it looked.
