University Catering- Akron, Oh

Hi - I am in the midst of choosing a venue for our wedding next October and it is between the Sheraton in Cuyahoga Falls and Quaker Square in Akron, OH. I am hesitant to choose before trying the food and was wondering if anyone has uesd University Catering or been to a wedding they have catered (they also cater the Martin Center at the university). We don;t get a tasting until 4-6 moths before the wedding.. that's way too late to change our minds!Thakns

I am U of A alumni and attend several dinners hosted by the university catering.  I have always found the food to be good.  Its nothing over the top but the pricing is GREAT there - I have helped plan our company holiday party at Quaker Square in just a few weeks and so far they have been easy to work with.

yes the pricing is great.. i am between quaker and the sheraton and there is like a 4,000 price difference. I am ok with good food, that is not what people will remember! thanks so much for your input!

    Hello,
I work at the University and have been to many events at the Martin Center and 2 weddings at Quaker Square. Earlier this year, I went to a wedding at the Sheraton.

There is NO comparison on food. Sheraton wins Hands Down. University catering is fine. The Sheraton was phenomenal. They managed to pull off Filet Mignon for 140 people and it was awesome!!!

You are looking in Akron, right? Have you checked Greystone Hall in Downtown? They are under new management...same as John S. Knight center. It's pricey...but freaking gorgeous. www.greystonehall.org. There are also lots of community centers around if you want to go cheap on place and spend the money on rentals and set up.

Also, if you really don't mind dropping a dime...The Civic Theatre downtown does receptions...and that place is TO DIE FOR!!!
    Good luck
