Question regarding payments

I have my reception hall booked and I am just starting to make appointments for other vendors. I just need some help with my budget planning. How do the payments go for the following: DJ Photographer Florist Invites Lighting Also do most take only check or can I charge things too? (I would love to earn frequent flyer miles if I can charge some of these big things) TIA!

Most accepted credit card payments, with the balance due the month before the wedding.

I think it all depends on the personal vendor. Most photographers were 1/3 at booking, 1/3 at the wedding, and 1/3 when the proofs are picked up.And then with the other vendors some were 1/2 at booking 1/2 at wedding. Some split it up more or required less at booking and the final payment at the wedding.

most of my vendors only took cash/check.   they get charged a % fee when using credit cards.  everyone's schedule was different for deposits but most payments regardless of deposit were due 1 month before the wedding.

All of my vendors have different payment schedules and deposits. We did checks for all of the deposits so far. Some ask for the balance the day of/day before the wedding. Others have three payments, like 50% 3 months before the wedding and the rest the day of/day before.

DJ wanted about 20% to book and I mailed in a check.Photographer wanted a third and we mailed him a check. Florist asked for 40% deposit, then another 40% when he does my trials, then 20% about a week before the wedding. I used my debit card because I made the deposit when I first met with him at his shop. (He made a joke about earning frequent flyer miles, actually.)I paid for invites in full when I ordered them off the website using my credit card.We gave the reception hall $2K in cash for our deposit, and we have about $3500 due this month (we'll bring it up there this Saturday at our tasting), and the balance is due about a week or two before our wedding. I think I gave the limo company about $300 and I used my debit card. I didn't order specialty lighting so I can't help you there. I think pretty much everyone said we can send in little payments here and there if we wished, rather than wait for their pre-set dates.
