Oh wow.. this is kinda stressful.

So, I just learned a little bit more about the nursing program I will be in next year, and found out I will not be able to take ANY time off surrounding the wedding. This will not do.

So.. we are moving the wedding up three months. I wanted June, but obviously that's booked up, so we are thinking about July 9th. We put it on hold with our reception site, and are working on changing the church date. As of right now, its on hold for another bride, but she also has her name on two other dates, so she said she's going to call and make her decide. I honestly don't understand why the church would let someone hold three dates.. that seems a little excessive to me.

But anyways, this is a little stressful. Thank god we only had the church and reception site booked. But now I definitely feel under a lot more pressure to actually make a bunch of decisions on all the detail stuff.

One thing that is really bugging me is that it is so close to the 4th weekend. The wedding would be the following Saturday, so I'm hoping everyone will have taken their vacations and the be home for the wedding.

Ahh, so much more real now. I actually have to start doing stuff and not just looking at pretty pictures and oohing and aahing over all of your ideas.

I totally feel for you on this. Our wedding was originally going to be in January 2011 and got moved to October of 2010. It was a big old kick in the butt to get going on planning. I found that the pressure of having less time actually was helpful. I work better under pressure and also had to kick my indecisiveness out the door

You know on a separate thread a lot of women were looking back upon their weddings saying how they wished they actually took less time for their engagement and just got on with it. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Less time to go back and forth and change you mind. Now you get to be focused. It's still plenty of time. I wouldn't worry to much about it being after the holiday weekend. You will still have the people closest to you there.

Have you gone dress shopping yet? I'm trying to remember. If not - you get to go soon! What fun.

Ditto bellaxanthe. Hopefully this will just be a blessing in disguise. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I wish I could move my date up already! More stress? Yes because you have less time now, but the details will be the same. But look at it this way: you get to become a Mrs. sooner! Yay! And yay for the nursing program too ~ I'm an RN

We actually moved ours up a month, but we didn't have anything booked yet at the time. It was all dependent on when FI's brother is scheduled to get deployed to Afghanistan, and that date has changed a couple times. It sucks, because it got moved back and we could have gone with next May, anyway. I know that I've certainly gotten more done since the countdown got under 7 months, it kind of makes you nail things down and make decisions. It sucks that you can't take any time off, though. I'm only going to take about a week, and couldn't imagine not having that time to use. I've actually taken myself out of the running for a promotion because of the time off I'll need for the wedding. Good luck with the nursing program! Where are you going for it?

I'm sure that's stressful, that news kind of jumping at you, but it won't be so bad. My wedding is 11/6/10, and FI only proposed the first weekend of June this year. We didn't have our venue chosen and booked until a little over a month ago, so much of the planning stuff couldn't be done before that. You'll be fine... we're here to help!

I think it's good that you only had to reschedule two things (ceremony and reception). It's actually easier to move the date if you don't have TONS of vendors already booked.

You still have a little time to order your dress, but I'd suggest booking a photographer as soon as you can. We booked our photographer right away after getting engaged, and back then he was booking up 18 months in advance. You should still be able to find several good photographers with your date available, but I'd reach out to some of them as soon as you can, just 'cause that's a huge checkmark

I was supposed to be enrolled full-time in my last semester of school this semester but I decided not postpone it until the spring, mostly based on having a 10 day honeymoon right after the wedding, wanting to not be stressed out all December like I usually am, etc. I cannot tell you how many times a week I think "thank goodness I'm not mid-semester right now. That would be a nightmare". And I'm a type-A uber-planner who has been ahead of schedule the entire process! I think you will be so happy one July rolls around and you're not juggling class plus wedding.

I also agree with PPs on how a shorter engagement can be better - ours was basically 1.5 years and it was just way too long. Lots of second-guessing and obsessing on my part.

Also, dcprep is right - book your photog next!

It will all work out with your date - as long as you send STDs, you should be just fine. Good luck!

My BF had about a year and 8 months to plan her wedding. I got engaged August 7th, 2010 and am planning a June 4, 2011 wedding. MY BF is totally jealous because she said she had too much time to think about things/second guess herself. She likes how I see something and just make a decision because I don't have all the extra time to ponder. You could look at it totally opposite as you are now. It is less stressful because you don't have time to stress
