Hello Knotties!

I am thinking of having my reception at Nahant Country Club in Nahant, MA... Seems reasonably priced, and very quaint. If you attended a wedding here, had a wedding here, or any other experiences with Nahant CC please reply! Thanks!

My friend's sister is planning her wedding there for this fall. I think she is pretty happy with it so far

It's definitely a beautiful location. Two things to keep in mind (ultimately why it was not an option for us):

1) the main reception room is on two levels, which could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. We saw difficulties in getting FI's dad, who is in a wheelchair, down to the main level.

2) We saw it on a day that it was POURING out and they were scrambling trying to move the outside ceremony indoors. Depending on how many guests you're planning for, many guests may need to stand if that were to happen (we were planning for 175 and I think they said you could fit 100 in the indoor ceremony room?).

Anyway, if neither of these things affect you, it could be the perfect place! It was definitely reasonably priced, they have a lovely wraparound porch that would make for a beautiful cocktail hour, and the staff seemed super-nice. HTH!

I've been to 2 weddings there. The food was good, and it's pretty, but I just don't like the two levels. It makes the people on the top level feel isolated.

I don't like that its 2 levels and I also feel like if I were to be married in Nahant I would want to be on the water.

Depending on the # of guests that you have inviting the Nahant Elks Club is pretty and you can have the ceremony under the gazebo overlooking the water. They have 2 sections I believe. One larger building and then a smaller building. The smaller the reception room is up one flight of stairs.

I think that NCC is out for us. I have had a hard time getting in contact with the function manager, through both email and by phone (That is a big turn off for me!)... I guess it's back to the drawing board.

Any other nice places I should consider in the North Shore (close to Boston)? I went to look at Danversport this past weekend. I liked it and the prices seemed reasonable. The function staff seemed very on top of things. Which gave them a gold star in my book!

I am also planning to look at Smith Barn in Peabody. Looks fun and different, the rental rate for a Saturday seems steep ($3500). And then you have to bring in your own caterer, which I am not too sure about.

Any info on either of these places or any recommendations would be much appreciated! TY

We looked into holding our wedding there, but ultimately decided not to. Just didn't wow us. The owners/managers were away when we went, so the catering manager showed us around and he was a sweetheart. Very nice people. One concern, though, is I think they only have the two small bathrooms upstairs.. and I don't remember where there was a bathroom for someone who is handicapped. I didn't mind the two levels, but FI did.
