Undergarments!!

Hi ladies,

I usually post on the cape cod boards but figured I'd get more responses here cause there's more people on this board.

So I got my dress and now i'm on the search for an undergarment. My dress is a strapless trumpet style dress... so it's pretty fitted up top and flares out right above the knee. When I tried it on at Davids Bridal, she put me in a long bra (that went down to about my belly button). But because my dress is so fitted, you can see the bra lines right through the dress!! So I hated it.

So what I'm on the search for is something VERY supportive (I'm a 36DD), something that will suck me in and make me look thinner :), something comfortable, something that won't show through my dress, and something sexy :)

Any suggestions? Thanks Ladies!! :)

    I would suggest having cups sewn into your dress, and wearing bike short style Spanx.  My dress had cups and a supportive top so I didn't have to worry about that area.  I'm wearing spanx that come up to right under my bra line and go halfway down my thighs.  Honestly the Spanx are more helpful for leg friction in my case.

    I honestly do not think you'll find a happy medium between comfortable/no shoe and sexy.  Sexy usually = unsupportive!

    Yeahh I had asked about getting the cups sewn in, but the lady said that they usually only do that up to a size C. And I am faaaar from a C! Unless she just didn't know what she was talking about.

    I would definitely focus on comfortable and supportive over sexy, you can always change after you've said goodnight to your guests :)

    Ditto sboston, it sounds like you want something that goes from bra line to midthigh. Try something like this:

    my seamstress is putting in cup and Im an F!!! depends on the dress i think, mine is corset back and sucks everything in and up so the cups would be ok.....but if if it was a looser fit it would not work. I thought ppl were nuts telling me I could get cup in with my size chest but it looks good!
    ask the seamstress, Im sure it can be done!

    Here's an idea...I scored on this.  I went to Wrentham Outlets and I just happen to stop at one of the stores that carry bra's and such.  I think it was Maidenform but anyway, I got my slimmer and bra all in one (sorry don't know the exact name for it) in white which I have not seen enough of, usually I see that beige color...for get this $17!  Total score.


    Try the outlets is my advise for undergarments.  I go to Kohl's all the time but this was much better.

    If you try these options, and nothing works for you, I suggest heading to Lady Grace.  I'm not sure of the locations, but there's one in Coolidge Corner and the women there are unbelievably helpful.  I'm also a 36DD and have had many bridesmaid dresses that required specialty bras (strapless and low back) and these women can help.  Their prices are not discount.  I got a strapless, corset-style bra and a biker-style girdle to wear over it.  I think it was about $70 for both, but I've had them forever and think they work miracles together.

    jay10, can you tell us who your seamstress is?  I recently got my wedding dress and will need to do some alterations.

    I would also make an appointment at Intimacy in the Copley Mall. The ladies there are really knowledgeable and nice. There seems to be many undergarment choices there and the ladies there are specialists in getting things to fit and support you well. They even do free alterations if necessary. I agree with the other ladies, you may not get something as sexy as you hope but they will help you lock and load the girls for the day! :)
