always get several quotes.. just a suggestion;)

thought i'd share this.... i only need a few flowers and wanted to stay around $400 total. went to a florist shop (that claimed to be 20% less than another local florist)... total came to $465 .. (i didn't tell them my budget - just an exact run down of what i needed)...
i really liked them and thought i would book, but something made me wait and keep my apt a few days later with the other florist. in the mean time i emailed the florist vendor for our reception...
the second florist (who i also really liked) was $367 and the reception vendor was $366!!!!!
if i would have booked the first one, i would have spent and extra $98 - lesson learned -

    Hey Bridget--

Do you mind sharing what florists you looked at?  I'm in the same situation....only need a few flowers and don't want to spend too much $$$

    sure thing....
the expensive one was flower trends in mansfield (but they were super nice!!!)

the cheaper ones i'm going with was: Twigs Floral  (in mansfield)http://www.twigs-floral.com/

but the other cheaper quote was the vendor for the country club: Floral Designs by Metahttp://www.metasflowers.com/

just to let you know... flower trends was charging me for the throw bouquet ($15) and the twigs floral that i'm going with is doing it for free!

Do you mind sharing what all flowers you ordered for that price? I live in S. Arlington and we have to find a florist soon.

    Thanks

1 - Bride’s bouquet (12 Red Roses) - $652 - Bridemaid’s bouquets (6 Red Roses in each) - $35 each2 - Flower girls (3 Red Roses in each) - $20 each2 - Corsages for the mothers (2 Red Roses in each) - $20 each8 - Boutonnières (1 Red Roses) - $8 each3 - long stem: 2 for moms, 1 for Mother Mary at church (Red Roses) $4 each5 - Cake flowers (for top of cake) (Red Roses) $4 each7 -  flowers to float in centerpieces at reception (Red Roses) $4 eachthrow bouquet (don't know what they are using - better be red roses ;) ) free

i'm trying to decide between hearts roses or black magic roses - but they said all the roses were all the same price so it didn't matter.

My bouquet has to be small because i had hand surgery recently and can't hold alot of weight .... especially for an extended period of time.. and i like simple...
then obviously the others have to be smaller than mine ;)
we decided that the church was beautiful enough and didn't need anymore flowers or decorations (actually the budget decided that for me).

the meta flowers quote was within $1, but the totals of each item was VERY different. the single roses and boutonniers were really cheap and my bouquet and the bridesmaids were really expensive, but the total was only $1 off, so i'd defintintely get quotes from both.

    hope that helps!

I also got a quote from Floral Trends, it was $400.00 more expensive than the quote from the florist in Colleyville. we are using.  I live in S. Arlington and ceremony / reception is in Southlake. It is always a good idea to get a few different quotes.
